Mine is 2016, I had signs in MMI then I tried to code it with OBDeleven and ended up losing MMI signs also was missing the camera flashing so I bought kuffatec dongle now I have same as you showing in VC but still no MMI signs but I have MMI traffic sign menu, was gong to tick VZA to see if that works

Can you take a picture of the MMI traffic sign menu? Are you referring to the one in ACC or in HUD displays?
Every time i enable VZA, it "breaks" TSR from working. Thats why i think you need "fusion mode" enabled... but i can not activate it. I think RJ-8V is saying the camera must be parameterized in order to enable fusion mode, but that logic doesnt make sense as the camera is reading signs fine.

Played around with it a bit more...
A5 -Long coding
Vze - change to coded
Then adaptations
From "road sign detection" to "Road sign fusion mode"
VZE must be coded to enable fusion...

Test drive - Didn't work

5F - Adaptations
Bap gen 2
Tsr 21 msg bus
Change from term 15 to databus extended (saw this in some VW forums).
Then Long coding
Byte 24 vza
From not activated to activated

Test drive 2 - didnt work

Byte 24 vza - not activated but left the other changes.
Test drive 3 - didnt work

5F Adaptations - BAP GEN 2 - TSR 21 Msg bus back to Terminal 15
Test drive 4 - didnt work.

Reverted everything back and works again.
Really hate that i cant get this showing in the HUD. The lack of Fusion doesn't bother me too much.. but i wouldnt mind the addition.

Welcome any additional input or CODING

@Trickey Fusion mode can’t be changed with the engine running if I’m not mistaken, have you tried it with ign on but engine off?

My current coding is everything enabled, fusion set to fusion. I get satnav speed on the mmi but no TSR recognition or anything in the HUD.

Mine has it as standard and I find it useful as it shows up in the HUD although it can show incorrect limits at times obviously depending how well areas are signposted. It always shows 40mph on the motorway near me then updates to 70mph about 2 miles in.
Lets face it anything we can 'switch on' is a bonus (I hated lane assist though)

Do you have speed limit showing in the MMI Screen or just VC and head up display, I lost MMI signs when coding VC

Only SatNav speed limits show in the MMI. still nothing in the VC or HUD.

When I contacted Kufatec out of curiosity to confirm my VIN, they mentioned TSR doesn’t work in Australia. Sounds like it’s not officially supported even by them.

Quick update, left bit 6 ticked rebooted MMI still nothing reloaded coding with dongle and now I have speed signs in MMI and VC
Thanks RJ-8V for your help.

The coding is the same as what i used but you need VCP or pre loaded dongle to flash the front camera and it works on colour multi function display with standard dials or Audi Virtual cockpit.
I also coded the speed warning to show in MMI and you can set speed warning to work with every speed limit sign.

@Audidave69 How do you find VCP? Thinking of getting it but already ordered the traffic sign recognition from Kufatrc so not sure how much I would use it.

I don`t have accesses to VCP so i used the kufatec dongle as it flashes the camera and loads in TSR in a few seconds, i have found it very good, on a recent trip to Europe it came alive giving speed restriction when raining and passing through five country's all with different speed limits it was very useful.

I am really hoping someone can help me.

I have an 2018 A5 Sportback, with an A5 camera 8W6907217A

I took the car to someone who had VCP and they loaded the parameter file for the 8W6907217A and then did all the usual coding shown on the wiki but then nothing shows up on the VC and the normal sat nav based signs on the MMI are not visible any more.

Then he loaded the parameter file for the 8W6907217 and still nothing shows up.

What might be the problem?

Hopefully someone will help me. And forgive me for some ignorance here, I am not the driver.

My car didn't come with TSR (VZE). But I remember that on the MMI screen I would see the speed limits, probably what comes from the Sat nav data. Is this what VZA is?
What I cannot remember is if these prompts also appeared on the VC or not.

Now with the A5 parameters enabled for VZE (TSR) what should happen? On both the MMI and the VC?

Sorry did not see your posts.

Use the Flashfile corresponding to your SW number. So 8W6907217A and then use the subfile AEBONVZEON.flash

flash the camera with VCP and then do all the codings. In A5, 17 and 5F (adaptions). Restart your MMI and then you will have TSR. In 17 coding you have 2 options for Traffic sign recognition, tick them both. That will do it :)

Don't disable VZA in the 5F coding. Thats not needed. You should get the signs on your MMI and in your VC. Take it for a drive when you finished everything.

OK maybe I have a problem then because we did first try with the 8W6907217A subfile AEBONVZEON.flash

That didn't seem to work entirely so we then tried 8W6907217 subfile AEBONVZEON.flash
Which is what I have on the camera now.

What are the 2 options in Module 17 that need to to ticked? I have not unticked VZA in the 5F, it is still coded as was before.
How do I get the previously displayed Sat Nav based signs ?

Currently I have only done

5F

BAP-traffic_sign_recognition_0x21 = Active
Vehicle Menu Operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification = Active
Vehicle Menu Operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification_over_threshold_high = Active

A5

Byte 16 > Bit 4 = Active

17

Byte 5 > Bit 2 = Active

OK I found Byte 14, Bit 6 on Module 17 that was not enabled. Let's hope that does the trick.

But now I am concerned that I might actually have the wrong parameter file loaded. I have the file for 8W6907217.

We will soon find out.

Reflash the camera with the proper file!

At 15.30 i have to work on a S5 F5 Cabrio. Will post the correct byte/bit for 17 then.

Do the coding, reboot your mmi and then it will work.

Thats the correct byte. Now you will have TSR

However, please flash the correct parameters. Also needed for your Front Assist (AEB).

What camera did the S5 that you worked on have? I am feeling quite foolish for loading another flash file.

How come VCP doesn't complain if a parameter file for a different part number is flashed on it. I would have thought that should have been the first check it did I.e. check if the target is correct.

Does anyone know what "Fusion" mode is meant to do? Does it put both the MMI Sat Nav speed as well as the camera read sign on the VC at the same time? Or something else?

Also an A camera.

VCP does not do check when flashing parameters.

Just flash the proper file and everything will be allright. No need to worry

Fusion mode is a recognition methode between just road signs and horizon.

OK so another stupid question. How can I be absolutely sure that my camera is actually reading road signs.
I have speed signs now appearing on my MMI as it was previously. But the VC is also showing signs but I have no idea if the VC is simply displaying the sat nav data.

Two situations which I cannot explain.
1. MMI screen showed nothing. VC showed 30mph.
2. MMI screen showed 50mph but VC showed 70mph. However I have no idea where the VC could have picked up the 70mph sign from.

Audidave69

Sometimes it does get it wrong I pass a 20mph side road but road I’m on is 30mph Yet picks up the 20.
Also it can pick up signs on the back of HGV’s and coaches, in Scotland they have 40 mph for HGV’s yet speed is 60mph and it picks the HGV’s speed, but on the smart motorways MMI shows 70mph but VC will follow the overhead signs and usually gets everyone right.

OK that could explain the discrepancy between my MMI 50mph and VC showing 70mph because we were on a roundabout where we passed an exit which leads on to a motorway which is 70mph, yet the roundabout we were on is 50mph, which was correctly being displayed by the MMI.
The mystery for me is where it picked up the 70mph from? Because there is no sign.

But what about the situation where nothing is displayed on the MMI but the VC is showing the 30mph sign. Where is that 30mph coming from?

Does anyone have the MMI menu called Traffic Signs? Under the Driver Assist menu in Car Settings?

Seen in the video at 1.34
You only have that menu if you have a tow bar.

Traffic sign menu is under "speed limit menu" (first item under drivers assist) on cars without tow bar.

Thanks for that.

Now then back to my question. I have traffic signs showing up on my VC. How do I know where are they coming from? Camera or Sat nav?

Is there some way I can stop the Sat Nav data signs being pushed to the VC. And then check if the VC showing anything when we pass a Traffic Sign?

You get the signs from the camera.

If you don't want to push data from your mmi. Disable VZA in the coding. However if there arent any signs your VC will show nothing or show the last detected sign.

Factory equipped is without VZA on.

So here is my issue. I have VZA and VZE enabled. But I am unsure if my camera is correctly parameterized or not.
As mentioned, I have camera 8W0907217A but after loading the parameters for 8W0907217A, I stupidly put the parameters for 8W0907217 on. So now with the signs showing up on my VC, I don't know if my parameters are correct or not.
The way I understood it is that if the camera is not parameterized then the camera will not read the signs. But the VC still has the ability to display signs from the MMI, which probably explains how a guy earlier in this thread thought he had a semi working TSR.

Besides speed signs, what other signs have people seen on the VC? That should then prove if my camera is reading anything or not.

RJ-8V

Registered User
Your camera is reading signs. The different flashfiles aren't only for TSR but also for the Emergency Braking Assist. Hence why you should reflash the camera for correct functioning of other systems.

Don't worry, your TSR is working fine. Even factory equipped shows signs differently compared with the signs on the MMI.

If someone can tell me a Traffic Sign that isnt Speed related that appears on the VC with TSR, then that will prove my TSR is working. Finding that sign where I live mine be the challenge :)

I will no doubt fix the camera flash file, just to put my mind at rest.

In the Netherlands we have digital board in the highway. They show a advised speed when there is a traffic jam. When you drive slow enough the camera will read those signs and show them :)
