I searched the forum with my symptoms but it appears to be a general state for many problems so I thought I'd post to see what I can find out.

A while ago on my B7 1.8T Quattro the engine light came on, at the time I had a cheap handheld scanner gave me P0222 (Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle (G188): Signal Too Low). Around the same time my Traction Control and EPC lights would come on seemingly randomly and cause me to lose acceleration.

Throttle body replaced, genuine new Bosch part from Germany. Same problem. Mechanic checked all the wiring and said it was perfect so the only thing left was the ECU. Replaced the ECU, still having the same problem. Mechanic said I need to replace the throttle body *again* (?!?!).

After the throttle body was replaced I started to get the oil level sensor warning.

The TC + EPC lights come on when I go over speed bumps or drive on a road with dips. If I turn off the car they go off, then on again at the next bump.

I got a friend to scan the car and I got these results:

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated before I spend more money and experience more grief!

Thanks,

Have you looked at the throttle pedal unit itself ?
I'd also be checking all earthing points to make sure they are tight.
If it happens over bumps I'd think something is loose somewhere..

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for the reply. My electrics guy said he checked all the wiring and it's perfect. I've ordered an oil level sensor to replace that as it's being flagged. I'm hoping the loose wire and the oil sensor are at least related if not the same thing.

I checked the pedal in VCDS just there at lunch and the values I'm seeing for it are:

G79: 14.5% to 80.9%
G185: 7.0% to 40.6%

Is that normal? It seems to be missing the top and bottom 20% or so.

Can't say for sure what the reading should be but there appears to be a good range so I say it's working. Has the electrics guy done a continuity check on the related wiring harness to rule out possible breakages?
Have you checked the ecu connector?

Yea after replacing the throttle body and the problem persisted he checked all the wiring into the ECU which is why he thought it was the ECU that was at fault and replaced that, same problem. :(

I'm kind of grasping at straws that someone on here will have had my exact problem, or there's some detail I missed. The idea of getting another throttle body doesn't make sense to me...

Sorry your not having much luck. Not sure what else to suggest. Another tb might fix it but like you say it's clutching at straws really. Have you googled the fault codes to see if anyone has had similar problems on other sites?

Just to close off this thread, the car has been running normally for the last 6 days.

Sorry for the lack of details it was hard to understand the guy who worked on my car. Hopefully it will give someone else some options.

Turns out there was a connector "behind the engine" that was really tight at an angle and a clip was digging into the wires, it seems this was dragging down the voltage and causing the car to register low voltage on the throttle body. Two throttle bodies, one ECU and double digit trips to the mechanic later... :/

Anyway, end result is I have my car back and it feels like a new car, ready to pounce and eager to go so I'm happy :)
