Tips for cleaning exhaust

Was just wondering if anyone had any tips/recommendations for cleaning exhausts as mine is caked on the inside with hard to remove black stuff (excuse my stupidity). What should i use to clean it? metal polish and wire wool?

Auto sole with a fine grade steel wool 0000 is the grade is used 2 clean my mums golf gti comes up like new 😄

I use muc-off wheel cleaner and an old wheel brush. Perfect

Meguiars NXT all metal polish... just prepared to get a) dirty b) tired arms!

+1 for autosol, I used a Scouring pad on mine

Just purchased some autosol and some fine wire wool. Will update with a before and after soon

Thanks for the tips, though very messy and long winded I think its a huge improvement!

Good effort! My least favourite job but a necessary one. Might be worth putting something protective on the finish to lock it in? This came to mind Britemax FINAL SHINE Metal Polish & Sealant

Brasso..... I use and it works everytime.

Or even Autoglym Paint Renovator (something similar)
