Hi guys I recently bought an 1.6 8p super cheap with a blown head gasket as abit of a project to Eventually give my mum as I lent her my A4 and came back with over £600 of damage so there is no chance she can have the keys to my pride and joy again

I have now rebuilt the engine and the last piece of the puzzle is the timing belt tensioner, I foolishly never looked at it’s position in the excitement of finally removing the head, to me it feels like it’s not going on the stud far enough to fit a washer and a nut and the black plastic belt guard is stopping it,

anyone with any experience in changing the tensioner point me in the right direction and also confirm where the flap part of the tensioner properly locates.

Any help would be much appreciated and will save my A4 from anymore abuse, thanks guys

That is helpful for setting the tension, I will have a fiddle getting it seated properly, thanks for the info
