What's the recommended interval for these engines please? Found a good 2.0 tfsi which I'm likely to buy. Has done 60k with a belt / pump change in 2012 at 32k. Have a feeling it's every 5 years. If so, I will try and negotiate the cost a bit as I think the warranty that comes with this car would be void if the belt went and was not changed on time.

Rule of thumb is 70000 or 5 years whichever is sooner. Easy to pop the cover off and check condition of belt.

Personally I would change the belt, tensioner and rollers at that age/mileage.

Sounds like it's overdue.

Whats a fair cost for it all done (water pump etc.) So he can negotiate? (Mine's not due for 3 years- but always good to think ahead..)

I am bumping this as 1 of the plastic guides has gone on mine & a local indy (which i respect) has quoted me £1400+vat for cam belt replacement (& fix oil leak at same time at back of engine) - I'm getting a breakdown of costs for the 2 different things..

Sounds extortionate!!
