Tiguan DSG DQ500 noisy shifts when cold

I picked up a 2013 Tiguan 4motion tdi. It has the dq500 box in it.

when it’s cold, I can hear it clunk when it preselects 3rd gear. I’m guessing this isn’t normal. Box behaves perfectly once warmed up/after a few miles.

I changed the oil on the box and it made no difference. Can’t do the basic settings on the dq500 with vcds but I’m wondering if anybody had similar experiences?
