For what tyres to go with? Mine are quite further away from the arches.
 
I don't have any tyres. I am thinking of putting 225 or 215/40/18. But which ones are gonna be better? Aren't 215 be too much streched? Or I am wondering if I put 225 if it is gonna rub?

ET45 -ET48 is best. The car won't look right with that much poke and not lowered and even then you'll rub
 
ET45 front & ET42-40 rear for the 18x8 rims with 225/40 R18 tyres on a 30 mm lowered car is a limit for a non-poking look & non-rubbing ride.
 
hay guys ive got an 3door black sline 2006 i cant find any wheels i like has anyone got any pics of nice ones on the car preferably

I assume this was for me as I said it would look like a roller-skate. The stock rims are 18x7.5 ET 55 (depending on the rim). If you go to an ET 33 you’re moving the distance the ally will sit out by 22mm (I’m sure there is a more scientific way of explaining). I was running a 12.5mm spacer (effective ET42.5) and I had guard rub at the back. I wouldn’t want to add another 1cm to that.

Car is currently running 7.5jx17 et56 with 225/45/17.

If I fitted 7.5jx18 et54 with 225/40/18 could I run into any issues?

Car is an A3 3.2 Quattro.

Got a 59 plate S3, running the stock 18”s at the moment. Quite want to get the r8 double 5 spokes on, want to fit coilovers eventually so my main question is, should I go for 18”s or
19”s

I know I’ll have to buy individual wheels as the fronts are 8/8.5j and the rears 11j so obviously too big haha,

Has anyone else run these on a lowered s3/a3?

R8 wheels are the same bore and pcd. They don’t come in 18”.

Take it you only want to use the front wheel size as I think the rear will be too wide.

Not sure if you’d need some spacers as the offset it only et42.

Think they will rub at the rear if you went 19”, might at 18”.

Do a search or read through the previous couple of pages. I’m sure the 235/18 size and issues have been discussed.

You’ll be fine - based on the ET there is only 2mm difference.

225/40/18 is stock size for the A3 (where 18’s are fitted)
 
18x8.5j et42 all round, what tire size and/or spacers should I use?

Maybe someone have 18x8 ET 40-42 on the rear and lowered with eibach pro kit or h&r 35mm, and can share photos ? ;)

I'm lowered on Eibach Pro (approx. 25 mm drop) and have 18x8 ET42 wheels. I posted pictures in this thread earlier. Here: #3037

I doesn't have much of a drop to even think of rubbing. My car has been lowered 6 mm more (-31 mm off a stock ride hight) on VWR springs for two years before I replaced them with Eibach Pro and I had the same wheels with 5 mm spacers which made it ET45 that time, and I still didn't have any rubbing issues. I think you have to start thinking of rubbing when you drop 35-45 mm (Sportlines or H&R).

The spacers do some track widening. I have the same rims with the winter tyres on now and I use them without the spacers in order to protect paintwork from flying salt. I can take pictures.

If I was to do this again, I would choose 18x8 ET45 for the front and 18x8 ET42-40 for the rear axle if the drop was 30 mm.

The picture below shows 18x8 ET45 on VWR springs (31 mm drop). I guess the Eibach pro should have a similar drop if you use the oem dampers. My car is on Bilstein B4 dampers that push the car a little up due their gas pressure technology. Otherwise the drop on Pros would be like on the image below.

Thank you for the great answer. Mines is on H&R 35mm, i have same wheels as you with 52ET and thinking to put spacers only on rear, and thinking between 8mm or 10mm or more, front i think i'll leave as it is. I have issue with my one side on the rear, because one wheel is not poking out as other one, it is because car had accident before me and it's rear wing was not repaired correctly, so i thinking to put biggest spacers i can to make that not so beautiful side look better.

Mine sits the same on both sides. Are you sure yours was on a level ground when you measured it. Try measuring at another place, perhaps an underground or a multi-story parking lot.

You can see it how lower it. In driver's side you can put 2 fingers between wheel and arch, and in passengers side you can put only 1 finger and there is little bit left space, but 2 fingers don't fit. Found in bimers forum that is normal, because of engine and other things weight, and when driver is sitting in car it becomes almost equal, but if yours sits normal then it makes little bit angry :(
