Walking through Cheltenham this afternoon, I came across a car with a logo on the side.

Not just any logo you understand, but the Association of Lighthouse Keepers.

Hmmmm.

Can you imagine being a part of that? Or more specifically, going to their Christmas do?

Lighthouse keepers being known for their massive interaction skills and all that... (what with living mostly alone in a lighthouse....).

More info here if anyone wants to join: http://www.alk.org.uk/

I'm there man!

I'm signing up, lighthouse keepers always sound like fun guys to me. Proof:

Believe it or not...this is the transcript of an actual radio conversation between a US naval ship and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995. The Radio conversation was released by the Chief of Naval Operations on Oct. 10, 1995.

US Ship: Please divert your course 0.5 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

CND reply: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

US Ship: This is the Captain of a US Navy Ship. I say again, divert your course.

CND reply: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course!

US Ship: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS CORAL SEA*, WE ARE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE US NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW!!

CND reply: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

I've seen that before... And it still made me laugh like hell.

That is typical of your garden variety 'I'm more important than you' American Navy.

Idiots.

I think we should all join the association though, and have an ASN vs ALK meet.

Lighthouses are rather phalically shaped too aren't they! perhaps they have loads of lighthouse styled...

I'll leave it there.

This is true. What sort of barnyard oddities would want to do that.... *cough*

Looking forward to meeting you all at AITP by the way.....
