Mines done 109k and had belt changed at around 59k.

Mine has done 150k I’ve just changed it took about 5h didn’t remove the whole front end cost 100£ for parts and just gave my mate some smoked brisket for helping me

Modern belts are pretty bullet proof - I've changed a couple in the past and the old belts have looked like new. I'm told by an experienced mechanic that in most failure cases it is something else on the belt system that gives up the ghost like the water pump or tensioner etc. I would say 80k is reasonable on a diesel which revs at lower rpm than a petrol engine.
What do you guys think of this belt? Mileage is at 106000 but I've got no idea when it was changed last as there is no history for it.
Not sure who makes the OE Audi belts - I would guess Conti. I always thought Dayco was a decent make - unlike other auxiliary belts, I've heard there aren't really any rubbish cam belts on the UK market. The best bearing makers are probably SKF and INA. On US forums many rave about Gates belts and accessories.
Water pumps are a bit tricky and many forums (BMW and Audi) debate whether OE is probably better than most aftermarket offers. For my BMW I used Meyle water pump. But if you are doubtful/confused just go with OE equipment.

Looks a bit glazed (shiny) with evidence of a tiny bit of fraying on the far edges. I would suspect it's not been changed. I suspect there are loads of TDIs on Autotrader and elsewhere with 100K + miles which haven't been changed. 100k mileage is also putting the accessories (bearing and water pump) closer to their intended life. Personally, at 100K miles I'd be getting "twitchy"
Yeah probably hasn't been changed. That's why I'm going to order the bits and get it changed. I was thinking to either keep the car, do the timing belt and put coilovers or buy ST MK2. So undecided.
Yep I expect to see an Audi/VAG symbol and definitely a part number. With premium manufacturers like Bosch you normally see dual branding e.g. BMW/Bosch. Brakes e.g. Audi symbol and ATE, with bearings I've seen Nissan/SKF. My OE fuel filter was UFI/Audi.

When I had my A4 TDi 170 the belt was changed at 133,000 miles, which I believe is the interval stated in the service book, given this length of life it doesn't seem as expensive splashing out on OE parts.
