What are the symptoms of a faulty pcv valve?

my car has a slightly lumpy idle and low power/no boost until 4500rpm, could this be down to a faulty pcv valve??

Instead of going on a hunch...try a diagnostic scan first.

It's more of an educated guess than a hunch. Ill do a scan tomorrow. What fault codes you expect to see?

Signs are usually poor idle when the car is at normal running temperature... i.e. revs keep going from normal idle up to about 2k rpm and then dropping again. Also try removing your oil cap when engine is warm and if you can't get the cap off or there is a lot of suction then your pcv is more than likely knackered.
