Swapping private plates

Anyone had any experience with swapping number plates from one car to another? Is it as simple as moving my private plate to the new car or do I need to put it on retention then move it on to the new car?

Put it on retention until ready to move to new car.

Yeah if you havent got your new car yet then £105 for retention. You then have a year to put it on a new car. If you have a new car already then you can swap straight onto it for £90
