Folks,
I have been trying to search the complex world of web however, couldn't find a definitive answer so thought I'd ask you helpful lot!
I have an A4 B7 (2.0 Tdi CVT 140bhp with 65k on the clock) that I want to sell and buy an A3 Sportback (this is not selling thread, at all). The A3 is going to be our workhorse(ish) and will be mainly used by my misses for school runs and spending my money anything she can perhaps think of - she is ****** creative when it comes to spending money
She has driven manuals but for the last couple of years has been driving autos and is pretty comfortable with it. Her average mileage a month is or perhaps should be no more than 500 miles (mainly local) but just like her creativity has no boundaries she is quite capable of doing between 600 - 800 miles - anyways, let not turn this in to whining thread and back to what the forum is for - to discuss cars!!!
There are couple that I have seen at the dealerships (not checked auto-traders so far). Ideally would not want to spend more than £5k on a used car but understand you can't get a ****-horse in that money let alone a workhorse. The two I have seen so far and are kind of on the upper end of my budget are:
1- Audi A3 Sportback. 2.0 Tdi Stronic - 140PS. It is an 09 plate with 49k miles on the clock.
2- Audi A3 Sportback. 1.4 TFSI Stronic - 125PS. It is a 10 plate with ****** 67k miles on the clock (looks like the owner was mainly on the roads most of the times and didn't have anything exciting in their lives)
My question is; of the above two, which one would be your preferred choice. I am more inclined towards petrol and this is purely due to the local miles she does however, I drive the car as and when needed as well and therefore could do some long journeys. Should I go for a petrol or a diesel? Are there any gearbox horror stories I need to be aware of or any oil issues etc.
Would really appreciate help and guidance.
