Hi, I’ve just picked my car up from the body shop, after some toad reversed into the rear door and drove off. Upon collecting the car, the doors were unlocked, and I when I went to start it I got the message ‘key not detected’. I managed to get the car to start by placing the key on the pad in the centre console and assumed with it being a keyless car, that the battery has probably run low after 18 months of ownership. Obviously at this point the car doesn’t think that the key is in the car so the warning light is on the dash. After returning home I notice that the key won’t lock the door, I’ve put a new battery in the key but still nothing, although I can still start the car if it’s on the Pad. I’ve took it back to the body shop (not happy with the repair and the key), after some discussions they say I can take the car back into Audi and they will foot the bill. but I’m finding it very odd that the car will still accept the key but won’t lock or unlock it. Out of curiosity before the car goes into Audi, has anyone encountered this before?
