Still want that Focus RS?

I was going to say they are local to us!!!

Couldnt be ar5ed really, you can go and check it out Jo ;)

If it was RWD then I'd be interested, but fwd spoils a car in my opinion, especially a high powered one.
The car needs all sorts of gizmos to keep traction on the road, where if it was RWD it would be more up to the driver.

Says the man with a beemer. All the reviews are saying how much grip it has, and how it copes with putting the 300 horses down through the front wheels, I'd like to try one to see what they are on about... :racer:

im no fan of Fords but think this looks awesome...wouldnt pay that money though not yet as i would like to see how it dates......

Looks better in White than Green in my opinion, still wouldnt be enough to make me buy a Ford tho... :)

I understand that it apparently handles and grips quite well and that awd doesnt automatically mean a car will handle great but Im not convinced even with the fancy lsd the front wheels can deal with 300bhp in all situations.

See what like when the owners start to increase the power too.

I just like the all condition driveability of awd.

Do I still want that focus RS?
1.Nope.I dont fancy my front door booted in for the keys
2.Nope.I dont fancy bieng car jacked
3.Nope.Its a Ford.
4.But I wouldnt mind having a go in one.Nothing like seeing a salesman cr*p himself!!

i actually like the focus rs it looks aggressive which i love there 25 bags on there site but the fact you can only get 3 colours is poo i like the white one but id love one in pearl black ....

I'd love one, not for an every day car....just a high speed weapon for having some sport in :)

I'd also have it in the green.....you cant have a car like that in a 'normal' colour...larey paint scheme all day long!. :)

You should maybe tell Honda that...
I assume yiou've never driven a Honda Integra Type R?

Them things drift (Ok...slide) like RWD all day long...you just trail-brake / lift off oversteer them in, grap a half turn of opposite lock and power them through corners...more tidily than many RWD cars.

Or Renault, with the R26R.

FWD CAN be fun...it just needs a properly telented chassis to pull it off.

It would appear the Focus has such a chassis...so I'll not write it off just yet. Great FWD is still more fun than poor RWD.

I'll have mine in white too!

Completely agree with ess. A well sorted chassis and clever front geometry can do wonders when it comes to handling. You don't need AWD or RWD to be able to go fast round a track with loads of power.

Ford have come up with something completely new which has upped the game when it comes to FWD cars - and it seems to work. The reviews that I've read so far seem to praise it all. Looking forward to the day it goes round the TG track :racer:

Having said that, if you were going to a business meeting, you wouldn't be pulling up in a lime green Focus RS. It was never designed for that. Fast Fords never were. They are ment to be shouty, outrageous brightly coloured animals with massively flared wheel arches.

Sod it I changed my mind... I'll have it in Green :)

Green for the win!!.

Remember hot Fords from the past, nothing business meeting about those!. I remember when the chap over the road from where I grew up rocked up in his brand new K reg Escort Cosworth,.....I was gobsmacked. There was nothing else on the road like it, that rear wing, the flared arches, the bonnet vents.....just fantastic.

If you want to plod around blending in the buy an Mondeo......if you want something shouty and loud then get a Focus RS :)

I'd ****** love one.....in go faster green for sure.

Hate the green with a passion. Disgusting colour.

White or Blue for me if I were to get one. They look mean as hell

Agreed.

Still think it would be better with 4wd, then you could ramp up the power aftermarket without worrying about epic torque steer.

The rally car has 4wd so why change it?!

True...

Cost. Plain and simple. And weight.
Develop a suitable 4WD system and the RS would cost a lot more than the likes of the S3 as Audi already have a 4WD platform to pinch it from.

An RS at £27k is a different proposition to one at £30k+

They did it with the Sapphire and the Escort Cosworth however.

I'd have one in green too, it looks sooo much better in real life than in the photos. I would be worried about leaving it anywhere though and it s the only car the wife has said sod the money lets go and get one !

As for 4wd ? yes they did it with the sapphire but then they had a range of 4wd cars then the olf xr4x4 and the granadas all had it. The only 4wd ford now is the kuga and i doubt the RS would look that great that high off the floor !

They never made a Granada 4x4

And the escort 4x4 did not use any other car's floorpan.

**edit**
they did make a 4x4 Granada, but sold about 10 of them.
Was a ******* child of the scorpio and sierra.

the escort used a modified version of the sierra platform, i'm sure there were more than 10 granads running 4x4 the 2.9 version had it as standard. The only limited run 4x4s were the Rs2000 and some 2.0 Mondeos

i was gonna say they did make a granada 4x4 they also made a granada cosworth to

I think you'll find the 2.9 did not have it as standard, I had a 2.9 and it was not 4wd.
They were a very rare car and nobody wanted them, just do a google, you'll see they were not really popular.

The cosworth granada was RWD, it was a 2.9 quad cam 24v v6, I had one of them too.

Anyway, my point is that several models had 4wd, and the new focus is one that deserves it.

ask the guy whos selling the wheels if he can thro the car in too pmsl....nice in white, i was looking at these while back before they were officially released and id have one over a new S3 :)

The Focus RS will be on this season's Top Gear and it will be pitched up against the Megane R26R. I'll be watching!

On a separate note, the R8 V10 is on the line up too...

Interesting videos.

I'm intrigued why the RS goes on the production line with what seems like any old bumper (video shows a blue, white and orange on a different colour car) and its one of the final pieces to get bolted on at the end.

I also like the comment that they are restricted on width due to the limitations of the production line. As the car is an absolute barge when compared to the S3 it makes you wonder if they wanted to make it bigger!
