Q5 Steering Wheel not aligning

I am having issues with my Q5 tyres and I’m unsure where to go now.

The car is 20 months old and on 24k and I have just replaced my tyres again!

About 6 months in the tyres were wearing really badly, it was given a four wheel alignment and I was informed the alignment was severely off hence the horrendous wear.

I have just had the four wheel alignment done again today (Hunter System) after my rear passenger side wheel was nearly completely bald (the drivers side was wearing but not as bad).
The steering wheel is now not sitting in the middle and if I center it, the car pulls me to the right.

The car was previously pulling to the left (pre today’s check) which would align with what the garage had mentioned about its wear.

It just seems to pull left and right and I’m not sure what to do, given it has now been doing it since I pretty much got the car I don’t know what to do (but I can’t keep buying tyres!)

many thoughts on what I should do? I have spent couple of hundred on alignments and £600+ on new tyres already.

Who carried out the two alignments....an Audi dealership, or a tyre specialist? If the latter, I would suggest getting an Audi dealer to check as they should know the correct settings for your Q5. Once the alignments are correct, if the steering wheel is not centred, it should be removed and realigned on the splines.

Kwik-fit carried out both.
It makes sense that it was out due to the excessive tyre wear, but I guess I can try and Audi and make a point of saying I am burning through tyres and it’s aligned but the steering wheel isn’t?!

given Audi charge about £160 for tracking... should I demand a copy of the readings pre and post in case they claim their massively out?

Errr, no, at least not in my experience. A competent operator will ask you to agree on what the correctly aligned wheel position should be and then adjust the track rods accordingly. Giving the car back with the wheel out of line is, bluntly, shoddy incompetent workmanship.

I use these guys - seriously good. https://www.silverlinewheels-tyres.com/wheel-alignment/

Whoever you use for the tracking should provide a before and after set of readings......that’s certainly been my experience.

I’m afraid I can’t comment on adjustment of track rods to align the steering wheel, as I have no experience of this....so it’d be worth checking this with Kwik-Fit.

This was my expectation but I didn’t receive the readings when I picked it up.
I’ll phone kwik for in the morning and ask for the readings, and highlight the steering wheel isn’t sitting in the middle!

The Hunter System should issue a printout of before and after, I had one when KwikFit did mine...
