Steering rack

So for the past couple of months I've noticed creaking from my steering at low speeds, the steering has got heavier. I do have dynamic mode enabled but dynamic steering is disabled.

Recently in the last couple of days the steering now makes a thud noise when turning, both when the car is driving and switched off.

Today I was driving home from work and I got quite severe vibration through the steering, I thought I had a flat wheel or loose wheel nuts but that wasn't the case.

I've been googling racks on b8s and it seems a common problem especially when the car is lowered like mine is.

Has anyone fitted a new rack or had a similar experience to mine?

This is a common fault on B8 A4s, come on lads someone must have some information/advice

I've just had my rack replaced, but the symptoms are totally different.
Steering is fine when the car is cold, but once warmed up, there is a clunk when the wheel is turned.
Issue was a faulty bearing in the power steering pump

Is the pump part of the rack itself or can it be changed separately?

It's all one unit as far as I can tell.
