Start up noise

Usually when i start my car up it makes a horrible rattle noise, i think its just a lose heat shield or similar but i wouldnt have a clue where to locate this.

Can anyone help ?

been quite a few threads on this, do a search. If its the one that sounds for a split second on cold startup then goes away, dont worry, its normal.

Mine used to do it until I changed the flywheel. If the rattling goes when the clutch is pressed then it tends to suggest its clutch/flywheel related.

its the 1.8T engine....sounds like a derv bah humbug

its the one that goes straight away, if the engine is warm you dont hear from it.

Sounds like the cam tensioning or tappet pumping up with oil.

As far as I know its normal. Enjoy.

hmmm possibly the tensioners have been replaced to no affect with that noise.
