Guys,

who has used them ?

Are they to be trusted ?

Im toying with a remap for my RS6

But I am fussy, if I dont like the map they put on I will be telling them !!

So im looking for some feedback please anyone ?

:eyebrows:

they seem to be one of the few places up here that cater for us, milltek's remaps etc. its a generic code AFAIK.
If you want a proper job take it to MRC, travel involved but think of the fun you will have on the way home?

MRC don't have anyone to remap the cars any more. why don't you try one of the better established tuners such as MTM, Star, AMD or RSD

Just a thought Star have just won tuner of the year award at the Audi Driver awards and Jim always seem like a nice guy. I would suggest that you look for a tuner near to you so that if there are any like niggles and you have to go back it's not to far away and make sure thay have a rolling road. Don't get caught doing 150 mph while someone tries to map the car.

As for Star...
Plenty of people have used them, yes they are to be trusted and they are superb!
Jim, Brian and Ewan are helpful and very good at what they do.
I'm sure Jim will be able to suggest a suitable map if you have something specific in mind.

They are the only tuner/specialist to have looked after/tuned my recent VAG cars...

Cheers fellas, Ive used them before for work on an evo I had.

Im just wary of rolling road mapping !!! Wallace performance did one of my WRX's and it was shocking, infact wallace are shocking full top.

I don't think you'll have the same problem at Star.

Jim is very professional and a very nice guy too! I had a remap done on my S3 and a few other bits at Star, and I hope to get the A3 along for a remap soon too.

A very profesional and friendly service at Star IMO.

There should be nothing wrong with rolling road mapping as long as they know what they are doing. The car well need to be checked in the real world as well.

doug never did remaps afaik, it was always Minhea who did that side (doug is a time served machinist/engineer).
Minhea has been doing stuff like this on the continent for years.
if he has gone it will be the end of them, would like to know where he went though>>>>>

I thought Doug had said he was an electronics engineer...so assumed he'd been picking up the mapping side from Minhea.
Doug is a clever lad, and I have no doubt that any maps done by him won't be any worse than those done by Minhea.

As far as I knew, MRC was going from strength to strength.

yeah me too, haven't seen anything on any other forums either.
I only know of Doug through Engine Services near Edinburgh (they used to work together and MRC use them for machining and engine builds to RS4/6/1.8t's.....big VAG knowledge there)

Wise old fart?? what are you talking about? Just saw this....

MRC do true custom remapping and dont use anyone elses code. I personally have had work from MTM(QST) and MRC and thier map is far superior an many ways not just the map itself but they have the ability to enable left foot braking, solve immobiliser problems etc etc. I can go into more details why if you wish.

BOTH Minhea and Doug are fully capable and fully able to map all sort of cars from VAG not just Audis. As Minhea is doing more work abroad Doug is doing more and more mapping and isnt any less able than Minhea in my opinion. And I can elaborate on that too if you wish.

In my experience MRC provide a far superior service to any of their competitors and its not just me that thinks that. you only have to go on to the RS246.com forum to see the great feedback. Please go there and get opinions there from actual RS6 owners who have had remaps done by MRC and their competitors. I think you'll find MRC deliver best value for money if you can swing a visit while youre doing something else.

I think wild statments like "wise old farts" which are obviously untrue (as Ive not long just spoken to MRC) are out of order. Your messing with peoples reputation and lively hoods! Can I ask what evidence you base you statement on?

Jim at Star really knows his onions however (as far as I know)they use code from germany and tweak it rather than use their own and you should ask them that. Theres nothing wrong with that. I live in Edinburgh so My local tuners are Bedrock and Star, but I actualy took the time to drive to MRC in Banbury and get them to remap my S4. And it was worth it.

I felt I had to say something as this thread IMO gives false information.

I've heard very mixed things about Star Performance. Some really good and others reporting totally ****** ECUs. :sadlike:
