Stage 2 S3

Recently had my S3 8p taken to stage 2 from Stage 1. I'm just wondering about the figures it has produced and if it is under preforming at all.

Torque 320Ibs
315bhp

The tuner (which I used for stage 1 and has a good rep in Yorkshire) blamed the fuel I had in (Esso 97) and said to put V Power in. This would push it up to 318bhp. Is 320Ibs abit low for a stage 2 map?

Thanks

Isnt stage 2 just stage 1 but with the CEL light mapped out for a sports cat?

I went from stage 1 to 2+

The numbers look ok to me but yeah get that rubbish fuel out of there and start using some proper stuff:p

Haha ive got VPower in as we speak. TBH I never got the CEL light on so that wasnt an issue.
It was RR'd at the same time and I noticed the boost wasn't adjusted as much as I thought it would be .
My mate has a Octavia Vrs on stage 2 and his Torque is 350IBS and that was done by Shark.

Was your mates car RR'd on the same one as your car or a different one?

Seems an optimistic number for stage 2, more like 2+ torque.

Yeah it was the same RR but was 4weeks before I got mine done so not sure if that makes a difference.
Has any1 else got stage 2 on here and if so what figures did you get?

From memory, mine made 330bhp at Stg2 and around 320-330lbs,with Revo software.

The biggest step in performance terms was going from Stg2 to 2+,and whilst going from 330bhp to 360bhp,and torque rising to 360lbs may not sound like a huge difference, the on-road performance was way better.

Stage 1 to stage 2 isn't much of an increase. Stage 2+ you'll notice a huge jump in torque.

Yeah i was expecting to be around 320-330bhp tbh, so was a bit disappointed when it only made 315bhp. Will this be down to the map or something else?

There is no fixed number on tuning stages its down to what each tuner thinks safe and how there tuning style works with the hardware. The limitation at stage 2 is the fuel pump which causes high injection times and runs on the verge of the ecu closing the throttle. You can see 330hp+ from stage 2 on a stock pump with a linear map with the power peaking around 6700rpm, this is possible due to the stock pump having decent rotational speed to serve the volume of fuel needed. The issue is mid range at stage 2 and having to tip toe on the torque trying to get to 330-335hp mark..

Stage2+ is another ball game huge torque and grunt with peak hp a lot lower in the rpm range only limitations on performance is flow and knock window.

I am trying to get people to make the fuel pump there first upgrade, even at stage 1 custom there are huge delta gains to be had, the reason a few tuners now offer stage 1+ mapping for k04 tfsi.

Difficult to say.....it could be individual settings on your car,or the map used,or even down to whatever fuel you used for the dyno runs.

It's fair also to say that dyno figures are a bit of a lottery, and there are variations from how well the car is tied down, and ambient temps, etc

Still stage 1 here but pump and intake fitted, just waiting for exhaust then 2+ :)

Every dealer will set up vehicles different. If the engine is in full working order then I would expect stage 2 to be 325-340 ish dependent on fuel. I always highly recommend using V-power as you do see the best results.

Hopefully I`ll see some of you guys for some upgrades soon ;);););)

this is my stage 2. Yours is bit low on power but torque is spot on

Strangely my torque at Stage 1 is 338lbs/ft, which is more then most at Stage 2. Not that I'm complaining:thumbs up:

Anyone tried the jabbasport rolling road in peterbourgh by any chance? Just wondered if it's optimistic, accurate or depressing? Lol
It's the closest rolling road to me in norfolk!

Those torque numbers look familiar for a late model DSG S3 on Revo..... have you had it on the RR since you went 2+?

No, not yet but might be going to get a DSG remap done before Christmas and could put it on RR afterwards to see actual gains over stage 2.

I await the results with interest. I have heard Revo have updated their later model DSG software so it will be interesting to see if they have sorted the issue with the torque limiter!

Issues with the torque limiter? Please do tell, as I'm in the process of booking my car in for the Revo DSG remap. ..

I had Revo stage 1 then went straight to 2+ on my S3, its a 2011 with DSG.

No problems at all with the stage 1 map but when I went to 2+ it wouldn't make more torque than 315 or so lb/ft.

Went to Revo HQ where they adjusted the map a bit and then had their DSG map uploaded, next rolling road day I went to it was still showing about the same torque.

After there I decided to go custom map and went to R Tech, now my car is putting out 390lb/ft, huge difference in power.

From what I have read their DSG maps are ok for earlier models but knowing what I know now then its custom maps all the way. I even got custom shift points mapped into the DSG software and saw Nik remove the torque limiter right in front of me, talking me through the entire process. All I would say is go with someone who has a rock solid reputation with these engines and you won't go wrong.

If you have your heart set on Revo then just have an agreement with whoever does it that if it doesn't make the power they give you a full refund and set your car back to standard, seems fair!

Hey Dean. Thanks for the full response...very interesting reading. I see that the Revo DSG map nowadays claims to move the limiter to 500 nm (370 ish lb ft) so I wonder if this is a sign that the issue which you came up against has now been fixed. I'm planning on initially going to stage 2, with a KO4 hybrid conversion at a later date, so will be interesting to see if I have any of the issues which you experienced...

No problem mate, I was pretty annoyed after spending all that money to not have the power I should of had, wouldnt want anyone to go through what I did!

Do they cater for custom shift points now and custom launch control RPMs?
