Any advice on oil brands for a stage 2 RS3? I'm told at stage 2 5w 40 should be uses and my car's booked in for a service and my local VAG specialist. I wanted to go with Millers EE Performance but the bloke at the garage says they use Millers Trident Professional, I know the Trident oil is cheaper but would there be much difference between the Trident oil & EE performance oil?

I’m on EE performance this time.

I rang millers up before I bought it, and it’s what they recommended.

Stage 2 Ds1 flex

I use oe Castrol oil, and change it every 5k km

No need to over think it imo

As long as it is a good 'synthetic' oil and you don't believe Audi that it can be left for 2 years, it will be fine.

Better to just change it a bit more regularly than sweat the make of oil.

I would go for 5w40 though, it is what Audi have switched to and I can see the logic, these engines do run hot.

You seem to ‘detest’ owners asking for opinions on anything………

The Revo turbo elbow thread you basically said stop trying to re-invent the wheel, and fit the 4” carbon Eventuri one, and why wait for the Revo elbow to come into production.

Now your commenting about ‘overthinking’ oil selection, why ? The OP has asked for options when coming up to an oil change, nothing wrong in that if you ask me, it’s giving him options / opinions to make an informed choice.

I just don’t understand why you are negative to choices when people want ideas.

It happens in all areas of enthusiast ownership, remaps / tyres / brakes / intakes / suspension etc etc everyone has different preferences and most will know immediately when they like or hate something, but it doesn’t mean the next person will think the same.

Had it serviced today at Midland VW, it was actually Millers Nanodrive 5w 40 that they recommend and use for tuned cars and that's what I went with. It's made a difference because driving home the car runs at the temperatures it did when it was stock.

When I was a Scooby owner and had it mapped, I ran a 10w60 purely to protect the turbo bearings (and cylinder 3) from the very high temps they see (and it was a sloppy flat four so no need for the lower viscosity when cold :tearsofjoy:) It's all down to personal preference within reason, if it was me I would choose a higher hot range oil in a turbocharged car.
