How much did all the clutch related items set you back dude if you don't mind? Need to see if I can budget for that and a map at the same time!

Stage 1 Sachs Organic from GNJ Motorsport for 491.00 and a LUK Duel Mass from Carpartsforless.co.uk along with bolts and Concentric slave cylinder for 257.97.

Lots of beer tokens for my mate to help me fit it all !!!

So 748.97 for the parts ready for S2+ :D
Just need to get the fluids etc and my mate to fit it all

What stage are you at currently ? I went to Revo stage 1 and suffered slip in 3rd and 4th the car has done 70k though it seems to be ok once there is a bit of heat in the clutch but until then its bad and it has never been launched by me.... I just know it would barely move in a huge cloud of clutch smoke !!

In hind sight i wish i would of done the clutch first but had i of done this i would of wanted stage 2+ straight away lol

Its such a lottery with clutches.. Mine held stage 2+ for 2k with only a few slips if i built boost fast in high gears. It's still holding pretty well but its only a matter of time before it gives up the ghost. Mines booked in for clutch in a few weeks.

I'm currently at a completely standard S3. But I've had a Stage 1 GTI Edition 30 DSG before this and I got away with no clutches thanks to the DSG. Just know I'm going to need it for the manual S3. It's only done 54k but I just get the feeling! Ideally I want to aim for Stage 2 and around 330bhp.

Yeh, I got that feeling with mine, that it was just about hanging on and stage 1 tipped it over the edge :-( oh well good excuse for S2+

I don't think LUK and sachs are interchangeable!!

I would check this before stripping. I'm under the impression if you have a LUK fly, then the clutch plate must be LUK to & vice versa for sachs.

Something about sizes or mountings!

I hope not, I was under the impression that Sachs no longer make the DMF but thier clutch will work with the LUK unit.

I thought that the later S3s came out with LUK Dmf and Sachs clutch....

Can someone confirm?

Standard flywheel is LUK and any sachs clutch you buy for your S3 will fit with your luk flywheel.

I've not noticed anything just I know as soon as I get the map it'll start going! Haha. Stage 2+ is a bit pricey for me at the moment.

From memory the luk flywheel is 415033110 and the sachs cover to fit ends in 394

Sorry that didn't paste very well but the info is there ;-)

What's everyone's opinion on the SPS switch? Is it worth it? Should I mess with the Fuel, boost and timing settings anyway? I do have vcds but I'm new to it.... The car is ran on two fuels only Tesco momentum or Shell vpower. It would be nice to have an aggressive setting for when I use it and a more economical setting when the wife's on her commute to work... Is this possible?

Hi S3DUST ,the SPS switch is worth the money as you can play around with the settings to suit you and your wife .you will have to plug the sps into the obd port each time you change the settings ..

Glad this thread has popped up actually as mine has just started slipping tonight and I was going to go down the same route of duel mass and Sachs organic.

How much oil is required? 5 litres?

Oil differs between facelift and older.
The facelift car has the transfer box seperate so 2 litres of gearbox oil.
Older cars the transfer box is fed from the gearbox so 3 litres would be needed.

Ah never knew that! from what I have read the transfer box and rear diff use 75w90 so 2 litres required total. Then 70w75 for the gearbox 2.3 litres. Mine is a facelift. There was a useful thread with some pictures of the fill and drain points for a Haldex service that I found...

I checked autodata when I done mine but the capacities were wrong!
My gearbox held 1.8 litres and my transfer box 900 ml
I'd only put the genuine oil in too as other oils can give terrible gear changes when cold.

From what I gather, as long as you have not had any leaks then put in what you take out as a fair bit can remain in the system even after draining :-o

Hi Guys,
Here is some clutch info for people :) I have had a bit of a plarva getting the clutch on time because of holidays in Germany and ended up canceling my original order and placing the order with another supplier.
Story below :

so just thought i would update this with all the information i gathered today.

Firstly CG Motorsport (Clutch specialists) stage 2 clutch is not suitable for S2+ ! i called them this morning and they were very honest and upfront :) they said the Maximum torque capacity is 338lbft and it would not be suitable for anything above that. So fair play to them thats all any of us want is an honest answer.

I called a few other suppliers and non of them had stock in the UK and because of an extended German Holiday no stock will be available until after the 16th jan :(

So i made a call to Darkside as a last ditch attempt, and wow those guys are great there ! I explained the situation and they couldn't of been more helpful ! The guy I spoke to said he thought he knew what parts i needed but as Darkside are a Diesel specialist he wasn't 100% sure. He said he will pass on my details to there sister company Clutchstop.co.uk. No word of a Lie 2 minutes after we finished our phone call I had an email from Clutchstop just asking to confirm that the part number of my LUK dual Mass was. Again a few minutes after confirming this i had links to all the parts i required and even told me of a 10% promo code they were running :-D
They confirmed that the parts were in uk stock :uk: and that i will have it on Thursday, what a result and it came in at just under 500 quid :)

Here are some part numbers and links as this info always comes in handy :

SACHS PERFORMANCE CLUTCH DISC PART NO: 881864 999502
SACHS PERFORMANCE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE PNo: 883082 001394
SACHS CENTRAL SLAVE CYLINDER, CLUTCH PART NO: 613182 600197
LUK DMF 415033110
I also ordered the pressure plate bolts.

The Guy i was dealing with was called Rob and was very knowledgeable he confirmed unprompted that the capacity of this kit is 400lbft:arco:

So there you go i hope this info helps others in the future ;)

Was that the stage 2 Kevlar clutch from CG as GNJ reccomended me that over the Sachs organic?

Hi mate yes same clutch but don't beat up CNJ there sound guys but it does look like there is some conflicting information out there from CG. At the end of the day it's a personal decision I guess.
Our s3 does around 18000 miles a year so I want something that I know 100% is up to the job and that will take the mileage. changing the clutch on the S3 is a PITA as you know and not a 5 minute job. The Sachs kit is rated at 400lbft and we all know S3alex ran his at 440lbft towards the end. All I would say is decide what your aiming for power wise and make a call. I would rather have something running at 90% capacity than 110% but that's just me...

If you go on CG website with the 30 % they claim puts it at 335lbft which just isn't enough for me (hopefully) now maybe they are being conservative but I know what would be said if there was an issue.

I guess for the amount of money I have spent on the car lately going to S2+ I'm just not prepared to take the risk. However also remember some people are running S2+ on the standard clutch! Mine slips bad with Revo S1. I would be absolutely gutted after spending 2500 grand on all the mods to have it detuned so the clutch can cope. This of course is just my opinion and I do tend to aire on the cautious side when it comes to tolerances and capacities.

Just wanted to also say that CNJ have been spot on with how they have dealt with everything. It's just a personal decision based on all the information that I gathered that's all.

And when we have spent so much on air filters fuel pumps exhausts not to mention the 15000 grand for the car in the first place a 200 quid saving in my opinion just didn't seem like a good risk.

I'm sure there are people out there that have had good results though...

Just wanted to give a big shout out to the guys at BCS Powervalve.

They are the friendlist and most professional guys to deal with. They literally cant do enough to help and go the extra mile.
