Hi, my car B8 2.0tfsi quattro has been giving these warning lights today. Every time it's started.

I have had the parking brake malfunction light on a few time previously but discounted it to water and temporary rusting seizing as light went out when car restarted.
Also my OBDII scanner says no codes are present , which is strange but possibly it's not fully compatible with this car. Tho it does show live engine / sensors data.

I did have a brakes lockup skid moment on motorway yesterday at 50mph during a small emergency brake moment that was surprising but car was loaded with luggage very heavily.
I've searched for old posts and could be ABS sensor module , or brake capilers problem possibly. But not much follow up on these older posts to help.

Any ideas from folks?
Here's photos of the warning messages and lights on.
Cheers

I think that if you look through this section of this forum that, in the past week or two, someone else has started a thread if a similar problem, so maybe learn from reading that?

Edit:- you mentioned having used an OBD2 scan tool on your car, unless it has extended VW Group cars smart controller ability then it could well not be picking up any faults.

In its "meanest" form, OBD2 will only cover mandated emissions stuff.

Thanks mate, yeah I did see that one . Nothing conclusive on outcome reported . @chop had a good insight tho.

It's booked into local garage to get scanned tomorrow , so we shall see.
Re. My OBD2 scanner , it found sensor fault codes on my B7 and mates 2010 skoda before , so thought it should of shown them .
And it shows my engine / fuel system sensors data. Kinda thought stored warning codes were pretty basic for it to pick up ...
Does anyone know if the obd2 scanners aren't fully compatible with B8s ?

Reading through old posts some causes could be -
Abs system incorrect coding - reset / recode according to Ross tech instructions via vag com
Abs speed sensor fault
Abs module not working or dirt / rust in it.
Parking brake button connection in centre console
Rear brake calliper problem with parking brake
Battery condition

The scan should hopefully be able to narrow it down to which wheel sensor or more.

It may well be the case that your OBD2 scan tool has run out of useful life now that you have a B8, I had a proper but cheap VAG specific one I bought from Gendan, when we had a 2000 VW Passat 4Motion and a 2002 VW Polo, when we moved on to a 2011 Audi S4 and 2015 VW Polo it was of no value - I knew that prior to changing these cars so I bought Carista for carrying in the car but have VCDS for serious things. My old Gendan VAG specific scan tool still worked for daughter's late 2009 SEAT Ibiza though, but I sold it on and only have Carista and VCDS.

Been to local garage and they plugged in their vagcom compatible scanner.
Saw several faults on each the abs control module and parking brake module , plus error or unrecognisable offside front abs sensor code.
Unfortunately they couldn't save or print off the codes for me.

They are always helpful, but more of a MOT & standard service station so they couldn't tell me any more than that and recommended going to a specialist Audi / vw Indy.
But did say that one fault can throw up lots of other errors in the system.

So off to look for good Indys in `Edinburgh that can hopefully diagnose more specific .
Anyone here in Edinburgh , recommend anywhere to take it?
Cheers

Update from Indy garage is suspected broken wiring loom along offside front part.

They will spice in a replacement section. Seems the right thing to do than replacing the whole lot.
Wiring loom sections are on back order though, so they suspect this is common.
Quoted £374 all in inc the diagnostic. Which seems ok to me.. prefer it to be cheaper but not bad considering.

Just got to have fingers crossed it solves it.
And drive gingerly for the next week or two till part comes in , as I have no ABS.. which i found out on motorway the other day!

Who are you using in Embra - the one in Bilston Industrial estate? I tend to use Star over in Fife, a bit of a trek, but if we take 2 cars we can go up to Arbroath for some of that smoked fish stuff - only been there 3 times for cambelt changes, 2 for wife's Polo and 1 for daughter's Ibiza.

Edit:- you are a bit lucky - when I had my first car with ABS, a VX Cav GSI 4X4, it failed in winter and took the main dealer 4 or 5 attempts to sort it out, by the time they had failed twice, I worked out/proved what was wrong (ABS ECU) but they still had to follow the defined repair pathway - what a joke!!

I'm using Bellingham Motors in Broughton . They've been on my radar for ages but never needed a true Indy in my B7.
They seem good , really small garage 3 guys and liked their attitude . And it's 15 mins walk from work.
Heard good things of Star and Autohaus but a bit far away, and probably these guys are a touch cheaper.

A road trip with a fellow Audi nut would be great tho !

Aye hopefully they've diagnosed it right. Said they got some connection with abs wheel speed sensor moving loom around so they reckon it's a cracked wire on that side.

Thought I'd update and finish my post..

Problem fixed by new right front ABS sensor.
Costs £120 diagnostic
Labour £82 , sensor £68, total +Vat is £180
£300 total

Cheaper than quoted (£374) , but left wondering how they didn't find it was just the sensor on testing . If I had garage access or a driveway and a decent lift I could of tested it with a multimeter. A YouTube video shows this to be fairly simple and quicker than garage's 1 1/2 hours testing.
Maybe the fact that there was a few error codes thrown up they tested more and thought the worst.
Which they did say at the time, it may be the right side loom or sensor or both.

But on collecting my car , they said that the sensor was mashed, which may have happened driving into a stone filled building site recently. Which makes me think they only did a vagcom diagnostic and didn't take the wheel off too physically check sensor for a signal.

So basically an ABS sensor can throw up codes for parking brake and esp as well.
And can be a potential cheap DIY job.

Good enough result - maybe, could have been easier!
I'm getting ready to replace the AC compressor on my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza, a Denso item, it has started to leak at the body gasket, so it is game over for that one I'm afraid, a bit expensive probably end up being £350+ by the time I've bought all the parts, compressor new from ECP + Drier core and O-Ring seals from SEAT, some PAG46 oil via ebay as VWG like to grab an arm and both legs for that, pay to get any gas removed, then pay for a pressure test > vac out > reload with R134a and maybe a dash of oil.
So, I've been looking for a proper car AC operator in Edinburgh, and drawn a blank which is annoying as over in Glasgow there are a few indy AC operators that work out of a van and so keep costs down, Edinburgh is just a big village and most newish cars seem to be company/leased owned so no market for the Glasgow style of operation!! Also got looking for VWG indies, quite a few now in Edinburgh - if you believe their blurb, for the future, in your case, have you ever considered using Witherspoon, they expanded and bought a large modern unit at Sighthill and ended up on the VW and Audi official website as service and repair places, but things seem to have changed and they has turned down their operation and are currently near Dean village and/or art gallery. I've used them once to replace the cambelt on my old VW Passat 2.8 V6 4Motion and their price and service was excellent, that was when they were still at Sighthill.
For this "AC support" I've decided just to use my local Subaru garage as they operate an "all makes" other services and if I manage to keep costs down by doing as much of the labour myself, all they will be doing is a gas recovery then later a pressure test and a reload with gas and oil. Changing the Drier core is a pain in this stupid Ibiza, it looks like a radiator out to get access to the drier, wife's previous Polo had the drier accessible once you took a top plastic cover off - progress, thanks VWG I'm guessing that wife's current Polo will be like this Ibiza - idiots. Though having a compressor body gasket leaking is surely not a common issue!
