So most mechanics do not want to do this job as its a pig apparently, and the aluminum and steel basically fuse together. The bolt doesn't come loose and snaps....

So I was told by a friend to buy whole suspension leg, used from a breaker.

Now the problem im having is according to eBay the legs im looking at fit the 140hp or 170hp but not the 136hp variant I have.

I wondered if anyone knew if they are the same? The body and chassis hasn't changed and it looks like the part.

    Any help or suggestions welcome

Any good garage should get that bolt out without damaging the upright. They may have to use a bit of heat so the top arm rubbers by get damaged (so new top arms) but I managed to remove the bolts on a driveway with what I would call basic tools.

If you're talking about the front pinch bolt there's loads of videos on how to do it on YouTube. A few don't involve heat at all, the best way.
They are a sod to do, but possible. Garage labour would be high.

This is my problem. I brought new ebach springs and Sachs shocks before I realised the problem with seized pinch bolts.

How long approx do you think to remove the two fronts?

I fitted a Bilstein B12 kit to mine.
You do realise that you don't have to remove the pinch bolt to take the front legs off?
Don't touch the pinch bolt unless you have to replace your control arms.
This video is on a B6, mine is a B7 but they're all basically the same.

Thanks for the link. I’ll have another look at it, seems to be some confusion at my end. Maybe it was access to the top mount bolts that was the initial problem. I never heard anyone mention they were hard to get at.
