Sportback Alarm Issue

Started @ 6:30 this morning

Siren going off but no flashing lights - wouldn't turn off even when I started the car.

I've had the car in the garage and cleaned all the door, boot and bonnet catches .

LED alarm door light in the drivers door blinks seven times and then goes solid on until alarm sounds again (about 5 seconds later).

Read a couple of posts on the A5OC that suggest battery issues but then go on to say new battery didn't solve it (but fail to say what did ). I've put the car on charge just in case.

I'll try and get to my friendly garage tomorrow to scan but anyone have any helpful ideas?

Just in case anyone else has this issue it turned out to be the siren itself.

Someone on the A5OC site had the same issue and VAGCOM confirmed there was no communication with the siren.

There is a backup battery in the siren which had failed.

£200 I didn't plan on, especially at this time of year.
