speedo stopped working and fuel gauge going crazing!

Hi all !

Driving to work this morning and my speedo bounced up and down twice then stopped working all together and the MPG stopped too . Then i noticed that my fuel gauge fluctuating aswell! . Anyone had the same problem ?

The mpg and fuel gauge fluctuating is related to the speedo not working. The instruments use the speed signal to determine when the cars moving and make the fuel gauge 'lazy' so it does not fluctuate under hard cornering. The mpg has stopped working as it can't calculate how fast your driving. First port of call is to check the connection to the speed sensor on the gearbox (3pin connector towards the back of the box) they have a habit of corroding, if that looks ok, chances are your speed sensor has died and replacement is necessary.
