Guys,

I jus changed the oil, oil filter and air filter from my engine today but i was unable to remove my spark plugs. I had the correct size socket head but it was too big to fit down the hole of there the spark plug sits.

Is there any special socket needed to remove the plugs, is it a special VAG made one. All the the socket heads i tried fit the plug but cannot fit down the hole to where the plug sits.

Engine
1.8T
AGU

Its really winding me up, i bet its a socket that only audi have.
Has anyone else come across this problem??

Thanks for listening to my rant.

hi m8 i have the same engine as you, changed the plugs on mine a few weeks ago,i used a spark plug socket from my toolset and it worked no problem?are you trying to use a normal socket?if you are it won't fit anyways because it won't be deep enough nor have the rubber bit inside to hook the plug end onto.
get yourself a spark plug socket that'll do the trick

Yeh i tried a few different ones but u kno the hole gets narrow where the spark is thats where my socket gets stuck.

I will try something else when i get home.

thanks for getting back to me tho.

no worries mate, maybe i just got lucky and have a narrow spark plug socket that fits?

I have one of these sockets in the Halfords pro tools set. Fits perfect
