I have recently bought a 57 2.0 TDi. It is excessively smokey when idling and the fumes are very strong. Last night after turning car off I removed oil filler cap and there was smoke coming out of it.
Can anyone shed any light on what is going on here for me? The smoke from the exhaust is blueish.
Thanks in advance.

Car is burning oil, that’s why the exhaust smoke is blue. Possible head gasket failure, failed turbo oil seals to name but two.

Someone told me it might be because the car had possibly been remapped?
There is no coolant leaks or discoularation. Would the coolant be getting oil in it if it was the head gasket?
Thanks for your help

I've checked the dipstick and it looks like there is too much oil in the engine. It it past the max on the dipstick.
Could it be this that's causing it to burn off oil?
Thanks

Yes. Need to empty some out.

even if this is the problem it will smoke for a while until the system clears.

it could have also caused other damage.
