Smell of petrol?

I got into my car today to go home from a short trip out and smelt petrol. I then went out again later and noticed the same but the smell was outside the car. It seems to be somewhere down the drivers side of the car but i cant find where. Ihad it on ramps at my garage and there is no sign of a leak. Any Ideas?

Mines was doing this just before my fuel reelie packed in.

99% chance it's the fuel filter mate. It's just infront of the rear wheel arch (offside). Common problem on them. Cost about £8 for the filter but pain in the *** to change!

Yep, sounds like filter to me. I had a small puddle under mine when i got to work one morning. The Green Flag man couldn't decide if it was the filter or tank as it's common for them to rub together and put a hole in one another (usually the filter thank chuffty). The garage fixed it for £32 inc parts and labour so not bad really.
