slight whine?

i noticed last night that when i go along in first gear and then let off it sounds like the gearbox is whining slightly, it doesn't sound so bad in 2nd or 3rd. is this normal or should i get oil levels checked??

Could be just your idler gear. Mine whines a bit but an Audi engineer said it was normal, plus it's been doing it all the time I've had it and I've put 40K miles on with no problems.
