Just an update on this one.
I noticed that the problem did go away with traction control off. However when it happens the traction control light doesn’t come on. It also happens very early before car starts to build any significant boost. It will happen when you press throttle pedal quickly but even with a light press. So car is not developing any power at that stage. It will do it in any mode and it’s actually more noticeable in comfort.
I went in to Audi to have it looked at. I also mentioned that the car was shifting very hard under full throttle, ie. like your slamming the clutch.
I took the tech for a drive (fortunately the problem is reasonably consistent) and he acknowledged that it was a definite fault. However he see to think it was gear box related.
When I picked up the car they said problem solved by doing a reset/ re calibration on the transmission. The first couple of times I took off it seemed ok but then it wasn’t!! The problem is still there and it can be quite a violent jerk at times, you wouldn’t want to be holding a drink.
I’d suspect it must be a traction control fault of some sort. I’ll have to book another visit when I get a chance.
The good news is that gear changes are now super smooth.
