What does it mean when the little triangle indicating current position on the map screen is black instead of white?

Ca't be certain but I suspect it means that it has lost the GPS signal and the position therefore may not be accurate
It would help if we knew what MMI system were talking about, but my 2G displays a Black triangle in daytime and white one when the automatic lights come on.
