Signs of bad cam follower? TFSI

Hi,
I had my cam follower changed roughly 3 years ago and when having it done I think they said it had already caused damage due to it been worn down too much.

Car has been running rather smoothly since, though I sometimes get revving when in traffic or idle and feel I'm not getting the performance I used to get.

Would it be a good idea to get it replaced again? And maybe HPFP at the same time.

Depends on the damage, if it showed any then the cam & pump possibly need replacing.

Remove bucket & check.

Thanks for the reply

I have a 2006 2.0 TFSI Quattro with bluefin stage 1.
Not only that but clutch is on its way out and with 145k mileage I'm unsure whether it's worth putting any more money into.

Would it be good idea to sell up and get a low mileage S3 for modding?

If you have the money to modify a car, why don't you maintain one?
Selling it to some poor unsuspecting sod isn't very fair on them. Just fix it and enjoy the car for a bit longer.

I change mine every 18-20k, it’s a 40 quid consumable. The black coating is just showing wear at this point.

Was actually gonna sell it to a family member on the cheap for a projectn and put the money towards an S3 but unsure.

It is in fairly good nick, cam belt and haldex changed this year but clutch would set me back over 1k.
