Side markers/turn signals

OK I just purchased a 02 Avant for my son and I as a project car, The left side marker wasn't working so i took lens out and there was nothing behind it, Would some one know where the wiring could be hiding? any help would be greatly appreciative

You'd have to fish down to find it, by mot laws it has to be there, so it's probably just loose inside.

Would you be able to get to it if you remove the wheel well liner?

No harm in looking as it either feeds from behind liner or from the plenum chamber battery area iirc.
