should your instrument cluster warnings show in vcds?

My brake wear indicator light is on in the top half on my display but cant find out why as my pads are like new, it has flashed on now and again before but now its on perminantly and its annoying. Vcds isnt showing anything unless im looking in the wrong places?

do a full auto scan with vcds
this should pull any fault code up that the car has


it will be under section 3 abs and brakes not section 17 instruments

Tried both of them but didnt do auto scan al do that tomorrow, cheers

The instrument page of VCDS will show you a brake error,
You will need to check the ABS ECU if i remember rightly.

I checked mate and didnt show anything just said no errors found or something along those lines. I will try a full scan and see what it comes back with. If it show no faults like last time i will take a photo of the screen and take a photo of my dash. Its very odd

Low brake pads aren't an error, so don't think it will show. When I had the common "red brake light on startup/low battery" issue, it never left any fault codes. Neither does low washer fluid.

As a side note, you prob have the yellow light because the wiring harness on the brake pads has either come out or come off.
