I do 15 to 20k miles per annum on pretty crappy roads, had always planned on having the RS3 as a second car but now considering running it as my only car just for the summer?

I feel like for a short period it probably works out ok, but not over a long period.

I'm also driven by the fact my Leon Fr I use daily is getting to the stage where that needs changing too but the new Octavia VRS I want to change too looks pretty difficult to get hold of still as its such a new car at the moment.

I am, but on a much smaller annual mileage of 5k. If it was 20k I'd still do it, in my opinion I just don't see the RS3 as a weekend car. Sure they're nice, fast and look great, but the old fashioned person in me sees weekend cars as 2 seater sports cars.

That said, I drove my 370z daily, 18k a year for 2 years and wouldn't have done it any other way. It sure looked good in a construction site car park next to a 360.

It's everyone's choice at end of the day, but I'd rather sell my RS3 with 60k miles on than 10k in years to come, it's 50k more smiles and experiences in my opinion.

Same here, there's not a cat in hell's chance I'd spend this much to have it as a 'Garage Queen'

Worst thing in the world is to let a car just 'sit' there doing nothing, look after it, drive it and enjoy it..........life is waaaaay too short.

I saw my R8's as a weekend car, I did daily them to work from time to time but they then become a daily and lose that 'special' feeling, I dont see the RS3 as a weekend car, a weekend car needs to be special, or different, anything like R8, Ferrari, Morgan, e Type, Ford Escort Mexico/RS 2000, old MG Midget etc etc

I did 45k miles in my 2015 RS3 over 2.5 years. Had no issues with it during that time.

Made to be driven and so it should be and not just at weekends.
Use it and enjoy it.

Bought mine for the Mrs to use daily. It's an RS3 not a Ferrari or Mclaren garage queen, it will hold up well compared to those two.

Amen to all the above. Crying shame to buy ANYTHING & be worried about using it. Shelf Whores & Garage Queens are travesties.

Did 60k in my 8V and 80k in my 8P… the point of these cars is they are a car with amazing performance you can drive every day IMO.

And all modern cars can be used daily if you can afford the running cost of some brands and models.

The only opinion I would offer is that for something like an RS3, daily commuting is one hell of a waste. All that time spent in stop-start traffic and the added risk of potential damage (there's plenty of idiots on the road, especially during peak hours), you may as well just run a bog standard hatchback.

Where’s the fun in that……..

Depends on where you live, not everyone has to deal with S/S traffic on a daily basis.

As for idiots on the road, that happens at all times of the day, not just peak times lol.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen at other times but there's a lot more of them in any given area during peak hours. Sorry to say but a lot are Audi drivers around here.

The standard of UK driving as a whole is dreadfull, a lot have absolutely NO manners at all and WTF happened to indicating? I have a suspicion that indicators either cost a fortune to operate, are far too complex to operate for some people or maybe some manufacturer's just dont bother fitting something that they know has little use these days :)

And while I am having a rant, I also ride a Motorcycle, this gives you a height advantage to see into people cars, the amount driving constantlt looking at their phone on their knee's is shocking

Add use of Roundabouts by professional drivers, not a clue on lane discipline.

The extra 0.15w from the indicator uses more fuel!!
Driving standards are rubbish no matter the brand. Brand doesn't come into it. You're either a good driver or a sh*t driver, it's not brand specific.
People just like calling out Audi, BMW etc because it's fashionable.
Back OT, having nearly got wiped out by a poor driver yesterday whilst out having fun it really makes no difference what type of drive you are on.

If people want to bubblewrap an RS3 then great, but define the 'right day to drive' and it'll be a day that never comes in the UK.
Recently and painfully I've heard first hand the regret of someone who has kept a car for 'a best day' for too long. My step dad has had a '66 mustang for about 6 years now and I bet it's been out 10 times, he's now been diagnosed with lung cancer and is probably not going to see many more years. He had grand plans for tomorrow but tomorrow never comes.
Buy it, use it, enjoy it. We're a long time dead.
