My S3 is due its first service in around 1000miles. Do Audi dealers price match with local independent garages? I've been quoted £190 with an engine flush from a local independent VAG specialist. I'm tempted to get a quote from Halfrauds and see if my local dealer matches it

Either way its a proper rip for an oil change especially when you can do it yourself for probably less than half the price!!

Is that £190 just for an oil change service? I paid £163 at Audi!

Paid £125 for minor service and oil change for my S3 back in April, originally main dealer wanted £280 ish if I remember correctly. Ended up matching local VAG specialist for £125 no issues :icon thumright:

Yep! Audi actually quoted me £199 it was the indy that quoted £190 with an engine flush...I doubt Audi will do the engine flush and just suck the oil out rather than draining it properly

I'll shop around, the service dept at Audi said to get it done with them to get a better resale price on the car when i come to chop it in. They said they cant put the car on their forecourt if its not FASH and they give you a lower trade-in price on it. Not sure if this was scaremongering though?

This is a good price and a lot more reasonable than £190! Its due its first service which is just an oil change and general tyre kicking

I believe that be scaremongering and consumer groups might be interested to hear that that person may well be misleading a consumer.

The trade in price is much more likely to depend on how much they want a sale rather than who serviced it!

100% agree. I'm going to ask the sales dept about this rather than the service dept.

I found I could buy oil at literally half what Audi charged (£35 vs £70 in my case for the same oil). They're happy for me to supply next time, so can save £35 on the Audi dealer price.

An engine flush on the first service????? That sounds like a money maker if I ever heard one!

Maybe and maybe not. I would imagine that if there was any 'swarf' released it would be early in the engines life, but in terms of sludge there shouldnt be any at this age

Pretty **** response. Apparently they have opted out of Audi's price match guarantee and offered a 10% discount! I'm not going with them.
We don't really have many options in London now with Audi City (and Victoria) shutting down earlier this year.
Trying Jack Barclay in Wandsworth but they don't pick up!

Never mind just read the small print on the last line ‘At participating Audi Centres only’. Very sneaky!

Yes I got told this by Audi UK on Facebook today, when I responded and said that’s disgusting because as far as I’m concerned any dealer working under their brand should honour anything on the website and the response I got was

“If you meet all the terms and conditions, the Centre will validate this.”

I’m calling in tomorrow with an estimate for oil change labour and filter for £82 at my specialist, they want to charge £190 otherwise.

If I get turned away I will be straight on the phone to Audi UK to ask what dealer DOES participate in the price match deal, see what they say to that.

If they still persist on £190, I will have it done at my specialist I think.. stuff it, I will only be on pins while they have the keys. I’ve got another dealer that’s agreed to £153 though.

Thats pretty **** tbh considering arent they the flagship UK dealer and if they arent honouring it what sort of message does that give out about audi marketing!
Btw jack barclay wandsworth is just a service centre where they do the work so they wont quote you for a service as the sellng part the dealers do and they just perform the work as i called them up a while back and they told me as much.

Does anyone know Audi's official stance with warranty if getting the car serviced elsewhere/doing the job yourself? Audi want £252 for an oil change which is a joke!

If I buy Quantum Longlife 3 5w-30 (which is what VAG use anyway), buy a 'genuine' oil filter (you know, because Audi make those...) and a sump plug, I can get the parts for less than £50 and labour would be free if doing it myself. I would be keeping the receipts.

I think the official line is that the work has to be done by a vat registered garage.

I've just spoken to TPS who supply Audi and they say I just need to use genuine parts and keep the receipts/invoice. They can put my VIN number on the invoice too. They say there is no issue to me doing the work myself as long as it doesnt cause a problem. The only think I can see going wrong is a cross threaded sump plug which could damage the sump or a cross threaded oil filter cover so its just a case of taking my time

I have definitely read this on a MIN forum.

I have had a quick look on the internet and found lots of references saying it's ok to use an independent.

    https://www.theaa.com/driving-advice/service-repair/right-to-repair-campaign

I have not seen anywhere saying you can do it yourself.

Best to email Audi customer service and ask the question. That way you'll have the answer that matters and in writing.
