I am a bit annoyed here because I have booked my car in for an MOT which is fine; but I was having a look at the servicing schedule and I saw that at 3 years the Haldex system is meant to have an oil change.

Now my problem is this:

- My car was last serviced at around 48,000 miles going off the alerts that appear on the MMI telling me I needed a service. Perhaps you could argue it was an early 50k service and was an oil and filter change.

- Previously at 40k I had the gearbox oil changed, spark plugs and break fluid

These were done at an independent and do not exactly match the order of the Audi schedule I have attached below.

And this brings me to my complaints here - how are you meant to know what is done when? If you don’t have it in the manual?

It is all hush-hush secret unless you download a service schedule like I have done. I don’t have any information in my Audi about this.

The 3 year Haldex change is particularly annoying because it wasn’t due on my last service and technically the next service is 60k miles which will probably either NEVER happen as the car will be 4 years old and PX or it will be around spring next year.

In which case I have missed the 3 year Haldex change by a year as it wasn’t due on my earlier service.

How does that make sense?

Someone explain to me how I am meant to know the Haldex needs to be done? And how urgent is it?

Haldex clutch pump needs servicing on the dot or earlier (I changed my fluid at 15k) if not it becomes full of sludge and blocks the pump gauze and affects function of the Hakdex system.

If you read one of the fine manuals which came with the car (audi service schedule - for vehicles with digital service history) it explains all the service requirements + additional work.
And yes the Haldex service should be done every 3 years or less if you do some serious miles as the gauze can get clogged.

They is no service schedule in the manual. Unless I go through each page and look for sections on that particular area I wouldn’t know.

That’s my point:

There is NO way to know when it’s meant to be done.

Even if I took it to Audi I doubt they would change the oil before 3 years. So the last service would be too early and the next at 4 years probably (based on mileage due to pandemic).

I consider this to be terrible customer service.

That Audi haven’t considered how and when customers will know to service the car and the various parts. I had the same fun with the sunroof service issue.

The Haldex oil has been sorted today so it’s not an issue in itself BUT it shouldn’t be so hard to find out what needs to be done and when.

Totally agree, I really miss having a service booklet showing exactly what is required, and when.

The details aren’t in the manual, but are/should be provided in a separate booklet which has info such as your pr codes and the stamp for the registered dealership. If your car doesn’t come with it or aren’t the first keeper then the previous owner/Audi dealership could have taken it out. I have attached what mine looks like and have blanked all my info.

I definitely don’t have one of those. Only the manual - and it was a new from factory order.

Anyone else have that?

@Shawn8V Any chance you could take photos of all the pages so I have a copy of this please? (I assume the other pages of the book are just the general requirements).

Kinda strange there is no mention of changing the S-Tronic filter on the RS3 (not the internal one) but the accessible filter on top of the gearbox part no: 0BH 325 173B..?
