Hi all

320 miles in and loving the A5. Just had a look at the service interval display though and something seems a bit off (maybe):

Next oil change in 408 days / 10300 miles
Next inspection in 714 days / 18700 miles

Coming from a BMW which had oil changes every 2 years / 18000 miles and inspections every 3 years / 36000 miles this seems a bit more frequent

Is this normal? I'd assumed the oil changes in an Audi would be the same frequency as a BMW or another german marque.

I read online about long life versus fixed service intervals - I'm not sure what my car is set as. I guess since the inspection is 18700 miles it's long life... but just over 10000 miles for an oil change seems low?

Thanks Raf

So in theory if I drove better (long journeys, low engine stress) my oil change mileage remaining could actually go up, towards ~19000 (minus the miles I have done)?

Exactly, that's why it's called Variable Service.

If your doing under 10k miles a year, Audi will recommend you switch to fixed interval servicing (basically once a year) and will adjust the service indicator countdown accordingly.

Is there an Audi service package? I have come from owing BMW and there is always a service package they offer. Do Audi offer something similar- I'm waiting for my S5 build week 25!

They have offered "special deal" service packages in the past (i.e. £200 gets you 3 years servicing) but I've not seen anything like that for a while. Your supplying dealer will normally offer a maintenance package, that you pay a monthly fee for.

You can find details here
