the cars a 2.0 tdi bkd with 89k miles
I looked at the coolant today and realised it had lots of oil in it
I then checked the oil which was just on the minimum line. I topped this up and got home.
I changed the oil cooler yesterday and flushed the system until it was clear then again today
I drove today after clearing it and its all gloopy again in the expansion tank
Could this be the residue or what else
please help

So is it definately not the residue because it got quick thick again after its changed?
How much is the head gasket with labour etc

Damn i was thinking it was the oil cooler.
Its changed but still bringing oil gunge in the expansion tank
Could it be residue?

A friend of mine had this problem on his car before, he changed the oil cooler and new expansion tank as it had mucky water stained on it and the car is still fine today but the water is a little murky but head deffo hasn't gone, so maybe residue from somewhere

Listen mate - it could be lots of things. At that age the cylinder head could be a problem.

Take it to an independent VAG specialist and get them to scan it for faults and then advise you.

It's impossible for anyone to diagnose without seeing the vehicle and there are so many possibilities that you need to take it to the experts.

Sorry !

Yeah i know sigh
I have vagcom with no errors and have revision b cylinder head if that helps
I just would have thought i would have seen other symptoms from a head gasket or cracked head

Rev B cylinder head certainly helps - mine is the same and no probs at 75k ! (touchwood).

Bite the bullet and take it in mate !

Good luck :icon_thumright:

Good news guys..
To anyone who has oil in coolant and no other symptoms, CHANGE YOUR OIL COOLER FIRST
Drove for a few hours today after flushing a few times and no oil has come back
Hope this helps anyone else with 2.0 bkd engine
