Very true. Getting my new winter tyres fitted to OEM alloys I got from Germany early next week. Will then chuck a couple coats of gtechniq c5 on them and probably fit end of month early Nov.

Damn, that RS4 takes some big wheels with low profile. Have you bought Toyo’s before? I ended up getting Goodyear ultragrip performance

I've heard some great things about Toyo. The reviews seem solid over a lot of mileage. Performance seems Eva toy the same as all the Contis etc. With the exception of the Pirelli. They're a B in the wet. But it's cold rain so...winter tyre is still gonna be better.

Next year I'll go OEM 19" winters. Unless these do really well. I'll change same time I think. It's dropping now isn't it?

I have also heard good things about them, especially the winters.

Yep, it certainly is dropping temp, early mornings now around or below 7deg.

Reckon the next couple weeks about right time to switch, but what do I know

There's a big storm or series of storms forecast from November through til 2019. Not exactly sure how that's predictable (well, I am but that's a different forum altogether) but still. Last year I put them on and 2 weeks later it was snowing. Got these at a great price.

When you put them on, I'll put them on Chicken...

Yo Thundercliffe, why not go for 19s or even 18s for the winter set-up. I know the arch gap would allow you to host garden parties there but you'd be able to find alloys as well as tyres for £100-£200 more than what you are paying for the 20s.

Yeah I've spoke about this bro. Looking at £1700-2000 all in and I just couldn't afford it right now. That's what I'll be doing next year. I know smaller is better over this period. Needs must this year. Just spent a tonne buying the car.

Wouldn’t surprise me after the summer we had that it will be cold and wet and long winter. Getting tyres fitted on Monday (onto alloys) will then crack on with coating and probably fit the following week or so. Will let you know

So, you planning on going 19s for winter or 18s

    One example:

I'm not in FB mate. I'll go 19s. I've ran them on the S4 and they were perfect. I'd consider 19s all year round if they filled the arches. Just need to look at right wheel/offset/width etc. Would let me use a bigger profile and improve comfort a bit.

But I have comfort/ride plans for next year KW V3 and H&R ARBs. DRC is just too unreliable.

Can't remember the offset for the OEM 19s on RS4. These are RS style obviously. Ugh. I had a screenshot of all the legit sizing and tolerances somewhere! Grrrr. Good deal that.

Yeah for the 20s. Probably gonna go 20x10.5 for some Ispiri wheels for spring/summer down the line. But the winter 19s look pretty darn cheap form with functionality is the plan next year. Suspension, lighter exhaust, better pads. Pure aesthetics the year after haha.

But can't forget proper maintenance. Will need new sparks next year for sure and rear brake upgrade. Carbon clean...list goes on

Potentially end of the year, i.e. when the dealership are a bit of under pressure to meet their sales target as usually that's when I believe you can get a good deal (just my view based on experience).

    And looking at RS6 performance

Haha. Touché. I crumbled when my fiancé's Dad got his done last week haha. Ummmm. More comfortable ride, great grip at low to medium speeds but not terribly reassuring when you floor it. Very floaty. That was in sub 7 degree temps and obviously, they're still brand new. So need a bit of wearing in I think.

Not as instantly reassuring as the Nokians I had last year but early days. Your initial thoughts? With yours I mean...

As you say early days, tyres still new and haven't done that many miles on them yet, but have had goodyear winters before, so quote happy with them.

Just ceramic coated my summer alloys today, so will drop them off at Audi for storage next week :icon thumright:

Got to be a catch. Surely. My local Audi wasn't the dealer I bought the car from. Tyres slowly bedding in now. Feel a bit better. But still very warm for November. Yours doing well?

Yeah 100%. These tyres were just too cheap to ignore last month. Looks to drop quite a bit in next 10 days. To a temperature that a cold start from a Miltek would sound just 'great' *rolls eyes* ahem ahem. Haha. Hope the car is running well.

Catch being I pay them £120 p/a for the privilege and they swap over two sets in that time.

Mine are ok, but as others have noted, temps still ok, but should be dropping again soon

That £120 per year a franchise thing or universal? I'll ask this week. Pretty decent that.

Yes running well thanks, apart from a dodgy parking sensor.
    Should be sorted soon though.
Hope it's not too cold Saturday as I will be at Snetterton, not in my car, but hope to get a run in a CSL from the 70s.

    Question guys.

How does one transport a stock RS4 exhaust system?

The time has come and I'm getting the Milltek Non Res with valves and resonated down pipes. No mid box.

The garage say it's a one-piece system and obviously very large. There will still be value in this so a) I want to recoup some money and b) there's always folk that require a stock system on the forums and it would be good to help them out.

If it can be cut, is it advisable? Perfectly safe to do so? Should I sell each section separately?

Cheers guys. Hope everyone is well.

Did you end up selling your stock system? If so, how did the van rental impact on the money gained from selling?

You'd think the system would be assembled in sections. Along an assembly line wouldn't you? ****** haha. I might have an idea using a waggon from my fiancé's dads work. But then, I'd have to store it at his work which would be touchy haha.

I sold it to my neighbor who bought it for his mate who has a 2.0T not sure if they ever managed to get around to fitting it as I have never seen the car. I got £300 after paying for the rental/fuel. Not sure if it is good or bad but something is better than nothing

Well yeah...exactly. I wonder if it would be possible to sell in sections. I imagine it would. Just for storage purposes. But I think I'd get more for it as a whole system. I suppose if I could manage to secure some very temporary storage and go hard on trying to sell it, my fiancé's dad might be ok with that.

£300 is ok. I've seen RS4 systems go for less tbh. Cheers bud. That kind of money would be worth the temporary hassle.

    Right.

Apart from the below par Audi experience yesterday (separate thread), there's some pretty cool news I'm excited about.

The Milltek Non Res is being fitted next week. Can't wait to bring that engine to life and no doubt be seeking out the resonated centre section after Christmas @noidea haha. But been something I've wanted to do for a while and I think the Milly is the best sound for the price. I'll get some clips up next week!

The stock system might be for sale btw if anybody is interested.
