After wasting numerous years of my life that I'll never get back in the pursuit of a clean car, it finally looks like the boffins at Nissan have come up with a hydrophobic coating that will repel the majority of crap the filthy British roads and countryside can throw at them.

It's like all of my Christmases come at once. How much will it cost on an Audi?! For now a bit of crystal coat sealant will have to do.

Its a great idea Warren, we already have the technology and know how for self cleaning glass, so why not go that little further and adapt for more everyday things like cars. :) x

Four questions I'll be asking the salesman before adding it as an 'optional extra' if/when it's available...

1) I don't geddit. How is it possible to have "a protective layer of air between the paint and environment"? Sounds like a force field.

2) What happens if a bird sh*ts on the roof?

3) Tree sap. What's the deal with that?

4) Do cats slide off?
