School Me on the 7-Speed S Tronic

Just wondered if there are any big S Tronic pro's over the S3's 6-speed.

I understand the basic advantage of a 6 v 7 speed tranny, but am interested to learn of anything specific to S Tronic. Selection, pre-selection, general swapping and the like.

They are both wet clutch systems, so other than the extra cog there isn't much to say.

Mmmh, so nothing to do with physical gear placings of 7 versus 6 in the box.

I honestly thought I read something about that?

Assuming the new RS3 keeps the same box as the Mk1 you can compare various stats here;

As for the packaging, I imagine the 7th is on the same spline as 1,3,5 so makes the box slightly larger.

Maybe not that much larger - odd and even splines both running 4 cogs (R-2-4-6).

Indeed - I expect they are very similar.
