SatNav updates - over the air or via Sd card

Does the Sat Nav update over the air or via the Sd card? I thought it was over the air but I notice on the myaudi website you can download to Sd card and upload manually.

Also, how do you tell which version it is - the website says it's Europe version 1 - how do yo tell what's loaded to the car?

The’s is no SDCard port on the 8Y, you have to use a USBC storage device.

It took me 45min to upgrade The mmi with Samsung’s T7 SSD.

In France, at this time, the actual version available on myAudi for download is P021_EU_2020-06.

I assume that the OTA update are more “up to date” normally you don’t have to care about.

You can check the version actually installed in your mmi from settings > version information.

For the 8Y, it’s over the air. I have had several updates since I picked up my car in April.
