Hey Everyone, first time on here :)

I've got a 2013 Audi A3 with satnav Activated, I've currently got 2014 maps on an SD Card and looking to get the newer maps.
Is there anyway to update it myself at home or do I have to visit Audi?
I want as little cost as possible.

Ive attached an image of my system settings/Versions.
Also, could anyone let me know which MMI Version I have?

New cards need to be activated.
Costs are £2-300 depends where you go.
Avoid the Mickey Mouse hacked cards from eBay and the likes cause that could brick your MMI then you looking at £1k+ to fix.

As above. 250 ish is the normal price. That includes the new SD Card and the activation for it. Ignore any search results that say "i bought a card off eBay and it worked fine"! it doesn't! Maybe contact @DJAlix to see if he can do it cheaper but I'm not sure from memory if he can or not.

    Awesome, Thanks for the replys.
Not sure if I want to part with £200-300 yet lol. I currently just ignore the MMI Unit and use my phone with android auto on a clearmount and play music via bluetooth.
Its a shame, because Id rather have a system which isnt illegal if i touch it ahaha

I don’t actually know the answer to this but I am surprised to hear that you have to start from scratch if you just want to update the maps.
The guy already has the card and it’s activated (at least that is what I understand from the original post)
I am also puzzled that the OP says he doesn’t use the inbuilt satnav but uses a smart phone. I can’t imagine that the maps would be so out of date as not to be useful. I have a very old satnav that has never been updated and it is not often wrong.
Having said all that, if you are happy to use the phone then it seems a waste of money to update the internal system.

You have MMI low, 5.8”, which is also known as RMC navigation.

To update your maps you need to purchase a new SD card with the maps data wanted, ie 2017 or 2018 etc. This must be new and unused. The card will come supplies with a licence which will need activating, which can only be completed once and via an authorised VW group services provider.

    Thanks for info DJAlix
Wish I had looked more into the MMI part of this car before I bought it
and, I think i'll stick to just using my phone for maps. rather invest £200-300 in suspension

Audi really did mess the RMC navigation option up big time. Its way to costly :(

if they said £200 for after sales licence to add sat nav and then charged say £50 for an update im sure they would be more likely to get customers updating every year or 2

Maybe but the other brands get free SD card downloadable updates for the same re-branded systems. Although I am all about OEM £200 can get you a nice tom tom with map updates and a screen that has a much higher resolution than a 90's digital watch :)

if the MMI was android based it would be far more flexible but i understand both the politics and security issues why its not

Hi All. I hope you can help. I have recently purchased a Audi A3 2013 with Nav Plus (Built in HD/DVD but without connect), is there a way that I can manually update the MMI firmware and Maps. The current firmware is K1549 and the maps are 2012/13
