Sat Nav and five free updates

Hello everyone,

I was wondering about the Tech Pack PNQ (without connect) and updating its maps.
(I'd read somewhere on here that certain equipped A3s would be allowed 5 free map updates.)

- Someone said the map data is available for download once yearly, others say every 6 months?

- Can you download the maps and install via SD card?

If so, could I download updates whenever i.e. every two years if few roads have changed, giving 10 years of cover.
Or, is it only within the first five '6 monthly' cycles i.e. updates stop after 2.5 years whether downloaded or not?

I was told by my dealer over email that you get 6 updates (or 5 or whatever it was) regardless of when you download them, rather than it being time limited - ie, you could do it once every 2 years and get 10 years of updates. I don't actually believe him though... but it's in writing so I'll be complaining if it doesn't work out like that!

They come out every 6 months and you install via SD card yes.
