S8 Sounds Dodgy

Hi all,

I'm after a bit of advice, tips, etc ... I've got a '99 S8 with the Bose option and, frankly, it doesn't sound as good as I'd like it to.

What recommendations would any of you have to improving things without ripping the whole lot out and starting again ?

Seriously, you should upgrade the HU to the Alpine CDA-9812rr (red illumination). At £270 it's a bit pricey but has all the toys, you can buy an adapter to hook into the Bose loom (£39) both from caraudiodirect.

The HU upgrade is really the only upgrade possible with the Bose system, without ripping it all out and starting again. The Bose HU is still an Audi (Panasonic/Blaupunkt) bottom of the range unit so this upgrade is definately worthwhile.

I don't want to replace the HU as I've got the Navigation Plus (Radio, CD, SatNav and TV) HU in the car - standard fit in my S8 !

It's really the bottom end that needs to be filled out and a couple of people have recommended adding a separate sub to the system - any thoughts ?
