Hi, Can any one clarify a few points on the S5 Identification, mapping / turbo / supercharger

From what I can gather , the V6 engine was supercharged till 2017
Same engine was then fitted with turbo charger , after 2017 ?

Q What indicates the model to be supercharged / turbo , is there a change to the model number
or is it simply the date ,

Q Tuning wise , which version is preferred , turbo or supercharger [ stage 1 standard running gear]

Q Are the V6 models supplied with manual and automatic box , only see auto listed .

No it wasn't the same engine, the single turbo V6 was a completely new Porsche/Audi design.
The supercharged engine was used in the B8 platform. The single turbo engine was used in the B9 platform (and later changed to a V6 diesel in some countries).
The engines have different characteristics, the main feature of the supercharged engine is a wide torque curve whereas the turbo engine's curve is peaked. I don't have much experience of the turbo engine but I think both reach the same sort of peak power at stage 1, but whereas the turbo has a higher peak torque the supercharged engine has a higher low-range torque. Which is better is somewhat a personal preference.
The B8 in most markets was auto (DSG) from 2012. NA held onto the 6MT until EOL. The B9 is all auto (torque converter).

Thanks for the info, from that B8 will only have auto box in the uk ?
Supercharged engine use direct injection ?

The B8 S5 sportback was always s-tronic only. The B8 S5 coupe had a V8 manual until the facelift in 2012 (a.k.a B8.5) when it went V6 s-tronic too.
The 2010-2013 V6 supercharged engine has 6 direct injectors. The 2014- engine (CREC) has an additional 6 port injectors.

Thanks, interesting , 2014 onwards looks to be the window to go for ..
In standard form, in terms of 'simple stage 1[dynamic] re-map, is this possible, without additional items ?

Yes, stage 1 (ECU remap) is quite effective without hardware. In general there is no performance advantage to an uprated exhaust, and the intake mods are only really advantageous at stage 2. Similarly a TCU remap which amongst other things will raise the redline is mostly of benefit for stage 2. However this engine does have a weak point in its crank pulley (the damping polymer can degrade and in the worst case the two parts of the pulley separate) and so an uprated crank pulley at stage 2 has the additional advantage of removing that risk.

Yes, noticed posts round the clutch and drive pulley, for stage 2 , the supercharger / crank ratio is increased - is this fixed or variable ? , only way to increase boost at full delivery ? along with inlet/ex changes - you say rev limiter , gear box , or the engine ? -MRC stage 2 , that includes what items ?
