Has anybody had one fitted ?

Think I will be needing a new clutch quite soon hahaa.

Cars on 46k now & was having a little play with the new P3 cars gauge on a 0-60.

Had around 30 stone of PPl in the back 9 stone passenger & 16 stone of me lol still managed a 6.01 lol

But Have noticed under certain conditions the clutch slips after the Revo stage 1+(high rev launches or even too much power out of the corner)

So as the clutch is getting put under such stress i may as well up rate it I reckon

I was in the same situation around 6 months ago and narrowed my choices down to either the Eurocode kit or the JHM kit.
I opted for the JHM kit as I was able to gather more solid information and was a little put off by the short life span (obviously dependent on driving style) of the Eurocode kit.

My initial review of the JHM kit:

Car has been running the APR stage 2+ software and hardware for just over 10,000 miles and the original clutch and flywheel had been holding up well until recently. Started to get sticky gear syndrome and was finding it increasingly difficult to shift into 1st gear and Reverse gear so knew it was time for a change.

Originally was intending on going down the OEM route and was quoted £1600 ($2500) for supply of clutch & flywheel along with installation cost. I am planning on keeping the car for a while so did not want the same problems occurring so decided to go after-market and started looking at upgraded alternatives (which there are only a few of).

After extensive research I ended up with the JHM Stage 3 Clutch and LWFW combo and had it installed around a week ago. Ordered from the UK and delivered within 3 days via Fed Ex from the US (Thank you Dru at JHM). The total customs charges and additional fees came to around £350 (or $550). So in total the clutch and LWFW combo plus shipping and taxes came to £1700 ($2660)

I had the kit installed at a local Audi/VAG specialist who I use and can highly recommend there work and was quoted 8 hours labour + master slave cylinder + gearbox seal. We agreed on a £550 ($860) fee.
The total time taken was around 10 hours (the extra 2 which I was not charged). So in total the cost of the Clutch/Flywheel and installation came to £2250 ($3530).

First impressions of the clutch and LWFW are extremely positive and the feel and bite of the pedal/clutch are extremely precise. It is a little bit easier to stall the car (only done once) but the silk smooth movement of the transmission has totally transformed the characteristics of the car and how the power seems to be delivered.

Review after break-in period:

After covering almost 1000 city miles I was able to give the clutch/flywheel some abuse over the last few days with some hard launches and some spirited driving. Cannot fault the setup whilst driving aggressively and it handled everything I threw at it.
It really has maintained almost all of the OEM drive-ability. As I mentioned in my previous post, the only time I have any negative feedback is when I am in the wrong gear, for example when in 5th or 6th gear travelling at 30mph then I put my foot to the floor. I experience vibrations that were not present in the OEM setup.
Overall I am extremely happy and would highly recommend to anyone who wishes/needs their clutch/flywheel changed or upgraded. Top marks to JHM

Review now covered over 6,000 miles

Clutch/flywheel still gets daily abuse and has never missed a beat. It definitely takes a little bit of getting used to over OEM.

As I stated early, I am sure both kits are well designed and will hold the extra power... I just wanted to make sure (or as much as I can) that I do not have to change the cluth/flywheel again hopefully.

Thanks

Well the clutch is in.
No issues to report from the mechanic.

Initial feel of the clutch is as OE TBH.I thought it would be a tad snappy, but I just got in & drove without issue.
Slight gear rattle when engaging at low revs (1200rpm) as expected.

Just 500 break in miles before I can hammer it now lol

Clutch break in halted.
Was getting tricky to get in gear yesterday, only just got her home.Biting point on the floor now.
My thinking is a failed slave cylinder (should of changed it with the clutch doh)

I had the same thing happening to myself. Clutch pedal completely stuck to the floor. I had to get a flat bed to take my car to the garage.
Car has been in the garage for last 3 days getting new slave cylinder which did solve the pedal issue.
The car is still at the garage as when starting the car, it usually does not start until say the 4th or 5th attempt and the clutch pedal really has to be pressed extremely hard.
It is a transmission out job to investigate and the early culprits seem to be either the throw out bearing or fork.
I did change the slave cylinder not that long ago along with an uprated clutch and flywheel but think that the new slave cylinder perished due to having put so much force each time I started the car.
Here is hoping that the problem will be solved and that I do not have to go down the transmission out route again.

I'm having the master changed at the same time.
The master has the clutch position sensor in it for the start and cruise control.
On the day mine started going bad I noticed the cruise had stopped working.
Maybe worth looking into that before stripping the box

Done some digging about & found a few PPL had issues with the clutch fork even when standard clutches are used.
Add to that the fact the uprated clutch holds at an extra 150lbft then i see what the issue is likely to be.

My mechanic is stripping the box off again (ouch) & fitting a new clutch fork,he's going to reinforce the new one to hopefully alleviate any future issues :)

The offending part

563220 x800

I've also emailed eurocode to say that it may be prudent to supply an uprated one with future kits too :)

Happy I'm not.

Clutch still not working ***

Only th I'm Ng that has not been replaces is the fecking expensive upgrade that obviously didn't work so well.

Back to the OE set up now I guess.

Expensive experiment

Not a happy bunny

Still in progress eurocodw looking into it,but it appears the pressure plate failed.
Having to put a standard pressure plate to the LWFW because I need the car on the road. Car is going in tomorrow.

If it wasn't fir the timing Id of been able to wait a bit longer but just moved house, getting married September & will need car for the UK honeymoon.

Fingers crossed you get it sorted out quickly.
Congratulations on your marriage, wishing you both a wonderful life together and all the best.

Keep us posted on how you get on with the pressure plate and hopefully Eurocode may help you out a little.

OE pressure plate going on today.

Manufacturers say the uprated one can't have been torqued up.
Mechanics saying it's a faulty pressure plate.

Rock n a hard place springs to mind :-o

I would make a post on audizine, they do a lot of business on there and will be more likely to help with bad press.
