S4 question (B6)

Hi there, I am going to look at a 53 plate S4 over the weekend, and was wondering if there is anything I should look out for?

Car has only covered 14K so I would imagine not much wear and tear. Garage looking for around £23,000. Seems a fair price although would prefer a private one owner car which had been well looked after. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1luvu.gif

What kind of performance/mpg/value for money should I get for my bucks? Deffo prefer the S4 over the M3 as I believe the overall finish and looks are of a higher quality.

That's very low mileage for a 3 year old car, that's less than 5k per year. Check the service history. There is a section on the Audi website called "My Audi". You could register yourself on there, submit the vehicle reg and VIN number and get a workshop history. It tells you about any work that has been carried out. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Is it a dealer or just a garage. Seems incredibly low mileage for a car that needs driving. I've not looked at prices but that seems like good value to me.

You've now depressed me on how much I've lost. Just glad I didn't buy new!

That's a good price.

Trade on a three year old saloon is c£20k so a 2.5 year old car with low miles and some warranty left for £23k is good value. Two questions, though:

1) What is the spec? Low spec cars can be hard to shift;
2) Is the dealer's warranty any good for the period after the Audi one expires? Remember that a year's extended warranty on the S4 is c£1600 (I have just decided not to take it but its wise you should know what the cost is if you want one).

PS Performance is strong. MPG is 17-23 if it is a manual. I average 21 in my Avant and 19 in my Cab.

What kind of spec should I be on the look out for on a S4? The car is in a garage which claims to be an Audi Specialist. I would imagine that it would still be covered by the Dealer warranty at least for a couple of months. Any help would be appreciated as not a great knowledge of this model, just like the overall appearance.
