S3 with APY engine swap from AMK controller possibly?

Hello, i bought yesterday an S3 8L, it had orignal a engine with the code AMK, but it blowed up and he put the APY Engine in it, but now when you start it there is instantly "check engine". Is it possible that the control unit from the AMK engine doesn´t work with the APY engine?

APY: no VVT, SAI, ME7 narrowband ECU, no EGT probe

AMK/BAM VVT, no SAI, ME7.5 wideband ECU, EGT probe

So technically, it shouldn’t run at all…..

Assuming it was just the bare engine then there is no reason why it won't run however you do need to swap over the cam chain tensioner as the APY is not VVT like the AMK engine

I would suggest you scan for fault codes using VCDS as a check engine light can come on for quite a few reasons some unrelated to an engine swap
